WWF Respect in Workplace Expert Jobs in Kenya

WWF launched a new strategy that harnesses the strengths of the WWF network in a shared vision, focussing on six major goals - water, wildlife, the ocean, climate and energy, forests, and food – and three key drivers of environmental problems – markets, finance and governance.



In support of this strategy WWF undertook a redesign of its international secretariat that will further unite WWF offices and its near 6,400 staff around the world.


This will help WWF to build stronger partnerships across the world with government, business, civil society and individuals. Together, we will deliver on WWF’s ambitious goals.


We are recruiting the role of Respect in Workplace Expert, WWF Network for our International Secretariat to help us achieve our new ambitious goals, and build a future where people live in harmony with nature.


Mission of the Department:


  • To advise and support leaders in creating a culture of collaboration, innovation and results focus in WWF;
  • To embed the desired behaviours in all key People & Culture processes across the organization;
  • To develop the right People & Culture standards, policies, procedures and platforms in-order to attract, develop and retain the right people for the organization;
  • To create the optimal working environment in which the staff are able to perform at the highest level and hence are able to maximize their contribution towards the conservation goals;
  • To drive the WWF network towards a common approach to people development, global mobility, leadership development, rewards philosophy and gender diversity;
  • To provide efficient and effective People & Culture services to WWF International.



    Act as a guardian of WWF Network Safeguarding standards on Respect in the Workplace in order to preserve the values and brand that the WWF Network stands for and to ensure that all individuals working for and with WWF are treated with respect.


    Be responsible for performing a full range of investigative assignments either as part of a team or alone, including difficult, complex, multifaceted, sensitive and confidential investigations, relating to inappropriate behaviour, bullying or sexual misconduct.


    Train staff across the Network in alignment with WWF new Respect in the Workplace policy to ensure that all offices are provided with and adhere to robust, clear guidance for safeguarding standards and that all staff is fully aware of their own roles and responsibilities.


    Support and coach Managers to create awareness of early warning signs, ensure preventive measures are adopted and advise them during investigative processes.


    Escalate issues to Senior Management sensitively and appropriately whilst ensuring good judgement so that the organisation is not exposed


    Main responsibilities:


    Initiating Investigations

  • Reviewing requests for support from Country Offices across the Network where misconduct has occurred or is suspected.
  • Determining the priority/scope of investigation required in consultation with the Director, People & Culture.
  • Ensuring key stakeholders are informed as appropriate.

    Gathering Information

  • Conduct impartial interviews of employees, managers, and external partners if necessary, to determine and analyze facts to conclude if safeguarding standards have been violated.
  • Interviewing witnesses and suspects to obtain information, evidence and admissions or leads.
  • Collecting and evaluating evidence in order to establish the nature and extent of alleged improprieties.
  • Conducting or leading the review of administrative/legal HR records and reports.
  • Collecting, evaluating and
    preparing evidence of case for resolution or dismissal.
  • Evaluating Evidence and resolving investigation
  • Evaluating received information to determine the credibility and reliability of employees, and concerned individuals and ensure substantiation of relevant facts.
  • Recommending objective outcome and resolution based on the findings of the investigation.

    Communicating Results

  • Preparing detailed draft and final reports of investigations setting forth allegations, findings, evidence and recommendations.
  • Preparing findings, reports, and related documentation.
  • Exercise non-biased judgment regarding the resolution of complaints and recommend to Country CEO/HR preventive procedures in order to prevent future violations and restore trust.
    Liaison with key stakeholders to implement
  • recommendations thereafter.

    Training

  • In collaboration with Manager, Compliance & Safeguards, create and facilitate training/presentations to the Network relating behavioural conduct and ethics and identify and integrate best practices.
  • Actively foster and maintain a culture of respect.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in the field of conduct investigations by participating in conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Actively build on developing in-house expertise and capacity.
  • Build relationships with colleagues with external institutions and share best practice/knowledge management and participate in professional associations and organizations fora.


    Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:


  • Human Resources, Psychology or Sociology degree.
  • Proven experience of conducting sensitive investigations in a global organisation and knowledge of the complexities surrounding investigations, including basic understanding of legislation regarding managing investigations and cases in different legal contexts.
  • Demonstrable training in addressing discrimination and harassment in the workplace.
  • Experience of directly working with Safeguarding issues and have undertaken training in areas such as sexual harrassment is essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including: the ability to both be impartial and project impartiality, and the ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of community members.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges.
  • Ability to manage issues of complex and extreme sensitivity with a high level of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and plan work to meet critical deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare complex written reports and provide reliable testimony explaining the investigation’s process, findings, conclusions and rationales.
  • Ability to maintain neutrality and work under stress.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse global constituencies,
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with implicated staff members at all levels across the Network.
