World Vision Commodity Officer Vacancies in Uganda


Purpose of Position

  • To provide technical and direct management oversight of the food aid program at the district level with a view to ensure quality food programming, systems and procedures and accountability within the framework of World
  • Vision and the Donor (World Food Programme) standards and guidelines. Collaborate and coordinate with the rest of World Vision Uganda ministry departments, partners, donors and government in the design and implementation of food aid programs

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Food Aid Programming
    Provide management supervision and oversight for the food aid program at district level.
  • Manage and track food aid programming budget and assets at the district level.
  • Work hand in hand with other World Vision
  • Uganda departments to ensure proper integration of the food aid programming with the greater World Vision Ministry.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other World Vision Uganda ministry departments and regional technical staff in areas of food programming research, impact learning, innovative programming and partnerships as well as the dissemination of major food programming issues, new ideas and trends, advocacy and the optimization of food programming for both relief and development need in the country.
  • Develop monitoring plan for all food aid in the district and ensures that regular and rigorous monitoring takes place during implementation.
    Track major trends and findings and take action to ensure project objectives are accomplished.

    Staff management

  • Develop and implement a staff capacity building plan on areas of commodity management, food distribution, and nutrition and hygiene sensitization in order to meet established standards through on the job training, workshops, conferences and any other appropriate methods.
  • Identify other training needs during appraisal process and liaise with Commodity Manager and Human Resources to see how this could be undertaken.

    Coordination and networking

  • Organize staff meeting to discuss project implementation as well as challenges and success.
    Participate in monthly management meetings.
  • Participate in district coordination meetings with donor and other stakeholders.
    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
    Minimum Qualification required: A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or development.
    Experience: 3-5 years past experience, preferable with a busy NGO or United Nations agency, in food commodities handling tracking and accounting.
    Prior experience with World Vision Commodity Tracking System and or United Nations World Food Programme Compass system is an added advantage.

    Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of World Vision, World Food Programme and USAID regulations pertaining to relief food commodities tracking accounting and reporting.
  • This position requires a person who is self-starter, who can accomplish the task with minimal or no supervision.
  • He/she should be able to manage a team of staff as well as cooperate with other units.
  • He/she must be keen on details and well organized individual.

    World Vision Child Sponsorship and Development Facilitator Vacancies in Uganda

    Purpose of Position

  • To guide and facilitate programme development, monitoring and implementation in an Area Program in line with programme plans.

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Guide Area Program programme planning and Development.
  • Support and guide Area Program scheduled assessments, evaluations and designs.
  • Facilitate development of the Area Program design document and Annual Operations Plan /
  • Detailed Implementation Plan.
  • Gather and analyze community perspectives, and prepare annual work plans and cash flows.
  • Write concept papers and proposals for non-sponsorship fundraising.
  • Monitoring of progress and achievements of programmes in the Area Program.

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
    Minimum
    Qualification required:
    University degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Education or any relevant field.
    Experience: At least three years’ experience working with communities in a development organization
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:
    Skills in Project management and implementation.
    Knowledge of development work and ability to integrate it with sponsorship
  • Competences in managing business process in large organizations
  • Ability to identify training needs among direct reports
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be highly reliable and independent
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Networking and advocacy
  • Practicing accountability & integrity
  • Practicing gender and cultural diversity

    World Vision Grants Finance Manager Vacancies in Uganda

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial planning and Management
  • Alignment of partnership budgets between PBAS, Sunsystems, and donor and Support Office forecasts.
  • Coordinate the grants budgeting process as per budget guidelines.
  • To also support the NO annual budgeting process through provision of relevant grants information.
  • Prepare a monthly analysis of the financial situation and performance of all grants, and discuss with the FSSD on a monthly basis.
  • Promote financial accountability, internal controls and reporting for all grants
    Submission of timely, accurate and complete reports to donors and Support Offices.
    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
    Minimum Qualification required: First degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant is preferable.
    Experience: At least five years related experience, preferably within World Vision. Previous grant accounting and budget preparation experience is preferred.

    Technical Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures.
  • ICT skill is required, Sun systems, Vision and Microsoft office program knowledge is preferred

    Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
  • Travel: 50% Domestic travel is required.

    World Vision Senior Advisor for Child Sponsorship Marketing – Asia Region Vacancies in Uganda

    Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a best in class regional marketing discipline through developing relationships with and competency of Asia regional fundraising offices (support offices).
  • Be a trusted partner and source of truth on regional market knowledge – including macro trends, consumer needs and trends, and respective support office challenges and opportunities.

    Knowledge skills & Abilities:

    Required:

  • 7-10 years in marketing, fundraising or related role, including 2 years at a leadership level with demonstrable success in achieving growth.
  • Exceptional ability to lead change through relationship and influence, across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Exceptional intellectual ability - a clear strategic marketing thinker.
  • Significant experience in leading change in a complex environment.

    Preferred:

  • Understanding of child sponsorship marketing strategies, with the ability to develop strategic and tactical communications plans and outline the resources required to implement them.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading matrixed/complex teams, including staff, freelance and agency team members.
  • Experience in setting, implementing, monitoring and measuring marketing plans and ensuring delivery against agreed targets.
  • An understanding of international development and empathy for people living amid poverty or oppression.
  • Position may require travel to international locations where World Vision works, in conditions that are quite basic.
