World Vision Uganda Financial Accountant Jobs

Purpose of the position:

The job holder will ensure the completeness and accuracy of the financial information in sun systems, contribute to monthly reporting, and provide full accounting service in reporting all transactions accurately and on a timely basis.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

Financial reporting.

Assist with month and year end close processes:

Responsible for preparing and reviewing required journal entries journal entries
Posting Bank statements in FFR Dbase, Posting bank charges in sun

Review aging of Advances; Reviewing petty cash ledgers & reconciling with petty cash log sheets

Reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts (Gratuity, Local service tax, Cash accounts, receivables, payables etc) & provide any explanations for variances and aging.

Financial reporting

Reconcile National office mobile money account monthly and ensure reports are approved appropriately and filed.

Risk management

Compile quarterly VAT invoices and prepare VAT return and submit to Grants department.
Prepare & submit monthly WHT return to URA and submit WHT for payment, this includes reconciling WHT account.

Financial management

Work closely with all members of Finance team, SS team, GC and regional offices, to respond to shared service requests and queries (rejection of invoices, clarification, follow up, supplier invoices issues etc)

Audit

Assist SFO, reporting/analysis with regular internal audits

and year-end audit by providing accurate and timely financial reporting; g balance sheet, reconciliations and variance commentary etc

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, and Accounting.

At least 3 years relevant technical and business work experience in an INGO sector

Previous working knowledge and experience of SUN accounting software

Will have knowledge of NGO donors and their financial reporting requirements

Knowledge of project management and project cycles

Excellent computer skills with high proficiency in Microsoft excel

Strong desire to develop or change processes to improve efficiency

Good analytical and reporting skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skill

Strong teamwork skills essential

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
