    Job Description

    As an International Christian Humanitarian Development organization, World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is trusted to deliver integrated programs with target communities through its 58 Area programs (APs) located in seven regional states of the country.

    Purpose of the position:

    To facilitate project implementation in the above mentioned Woredas aimed at ensuring food security for targeted households.

    Communicate World Vision's Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.

    Major Responsibilities:

  • Planning, facilitating and undertaking seed potato multiplication and production of quality declared planting materials within the project areas
  • Engage stakeholders in implementing and monitoring of project progress for seed multiplication and certification interventions in the project area
  • Facilitate and engage the community and stakeholders in participatory assessment to identify potentials, problems and development opportunities of project interventions
  • In collaboration with woreda stakeholders (agriculture and natural resource and cooperative promotion offices capacitate and empower the target communities to fully address project interventions
    Provide practical training for members of seed potato producer associations on the production of quality declared seed potato planting material, field monitoring, book keeping and cooperative management, organic farming techniques, and seed potato marketing
  • Facilitate and ensure diffused light store (DLS) construction for short term
    and long term storage of mini tubers, seed and ware potatoes
  • Assist cooperatives in managing seed potato production to enable them effectively undertake various interventions
  • Work closely with AP team in assessing and identification of appropriate technologies and engage in promoting and dissemination of the same
    Network with relevant local stakeholders, FBO, CBO Woreda sector offices and facilitate experience sharing within and outside the area as per the plan
    Prepare monthly, quarterly, biannually and annually progress report with standard quality and submit to project manager

    Competencies/Attributes:

  • Computer literate (Operate MS Word and MS Excel)
  • Committed WVE vision, Mission and core values
  • Attend and participate in daily devotions services.
  • Perform other duties as required.

    Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

    Qualification required:

  • BSc in Agriculture and related field

    Experience:

  • 4 years and above

    Technical Training qualifications required:

  • Agriculture, Rural development, Horticulture and other related fieldsWorking Environment /Conditions:

    Work environment:

  • field-based with frequent travel to project site Voluntarily to live and work in rural setting
