Key Responsibilities:

Programme/Project Implementation and Quality Assurance

  • Manage implementation, budget, and quality of the field community mobilization and engagement, education in emergency, psychosocial services and protection which includes women and child protection and/or ending violence against children in the WVSA flood and mudslide emergency response.

  • Actively monitor output indicators for related outputs

  • Assess related project activities to ensure they are within scope, time, and budget.

  • Supports and integrates appropriate, safe, and meaningful participation of children throughout the project lifecycle and decision-making opportunities

  • Ensure accountability to children and families in the area programme through the establishment of feedback and complaints mechanisms

  • Provide support to M&E teams during monitoring and evaluation activities

  • In emergency or Response situations
    Produce timely and quality reports to stakeholders as required.

    Capacity Building

  • Support the formation of a local Child Protection & Advocacy (CP&A) group comprised of informal and formal Child Protection (CP) representatives in the community; coach CP&A group members to foster genuine ownership of group action plans for sustainability

  • Build the capacity of local CP&A group to understand CP issues and root causes, CP systems strengthening, and prioritization of CP issues to address

  • Facilitate CP&A group development of a shared action plan to address violence against children's issues

  • Monitor CP&A group functioning, implementation, and organizational capacity

  • Coordinate and support training in project model or CP intervention implementation for CP&A group members, CP officers, development facilitators, and local volunteers involved in CP project implementation

    Partnering and External Engagement

  • Establish effective partnerships with local community volunteers, parents and CP stakeholders, networks, coalitions, working groups, and local government representatives to understand the functionality of the Protection System and to form/strengthen the local CP&A group

  • Represent World Vision as needed in local area community engagement, education and CP networks, coalitions, or government-led CP spaces to promote evidenced-based interventions and advance systems strengthening approaches to child protection

  • Establish effective working relationships with local faith leaders and communities (from a variety of faith backgrounds if applicable) to promote child protection initiatives, and positive parenting techniques, and invite them to be part of the CP&A group to address violence against children's issues

  • If needed in emergency and Response situations, participate actively and regularly in the local CP cluster to coordinate World Vision’s CP work alongside other humanitarian actors

    Safeguarding

  • Report adult and child safeguarding incidents for designated area programmes (Levels 1-3)

  • Ensure proper implementation of the office’s Safeguarding Incident Preparedness Plans at the local area programme level

  • Train local partners or volunteers who work directly with programme beneficiaries on Safeguarding policies, procedures, behaviours, and reporting protocols

    Knowledge Management & Learning

  • Seek out and document lessons learned from project activities across each CP domain of change in the local area programme

  • Facilitate regular reflection and learning activities with CP staff and volunteers as well as the local CP&A group to reflect on implementation and make adaptations as needed

  • Incorporate children’s feedback on programme activities into knowledge-sharing sessions and debrief with children’s groups to let them know how their opinions have affected the implementation

    Lead the implementation of all psychosocial services designed activities

  • Collaboration with the Government

  • Identification of beneficiaries for psychosocial services

  • Build capacity in staff and stakeholders in psychosocial services

    Required Professional Experience

  • 2-5 years’ experience in child protection, child development, or community development

  • Experience working in an NGO or international development context

  • Experience leading workshops, training, and capacity-building sessions

  • Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and report writing

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Tertiary education or equivalent in the fields of child protection, social work, community development, international development, child development, or a related field.

    Other Competencies/Attributes:

  • Extremely strong planning and project management skills

  • Strong group facilitation, training, coaching, and capacity-building skills

  • Strong inter-personal communication and collaboration skills

  • Strong partnering, conflict management, and consensus-building skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of common local child protection issues and violations

  • Compassion and commitment to ending violence against the world’s most vulnerable children
