Background

World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in 43 districts and have 48 Area Programmes implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & resilience, education and child protection.

World Vision (WV) is committed to the protection of children and adult beneficiaries from exploitation and abuse and will not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with these beneficiaries. All employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks, including criminal record checks where possible.

Due to expansion in scope of our programmes, we are now seeking for a qualified and passionate individual willing to share in our vision and join the team in the following role.

Purpose of the position:

To implement field level health, Nutrition and WASH technical programme activities and relevant sponsorship performance in line with targets and partnership standards in a manner that contributes to sustained and improved child wellbeing.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

  • Quality Planning, Implementation and reporting of Project interventions in line with approved designs and AOPs/ DIPs.

  • Support project scheduled assessments, evaluations, monitoring and designs.

  • Facilitate and participate in the development of project design documents i.e. AP Area Operation Plans/ Detailed Implementation Plans

  • Gather and analyze community perspectives, and prepare annual work plans and cash flows.

  • Generate ideas for concept papers and proposal development for non-sponsorship fundraising.

  • Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and other fora

  • Facilitate and Monitor implementation of planned activities and progress achieved by the project in the Cluster.

  • Organize community project and resource mobilization for planned activities

  • Intentional planning and budgeting for RCs

  • Coordinate with AP team to ensure all RCs with medical complications are appropriately supported to access medical care

  • Integrate cross-cutting themes that include gender, RC inclusion, disability, DRR, CP, Youth RCs and advocacy

  • Conduct Health camps to ensure good health and prevent Registered Children (RC) deaths.

  • Monitor and track budget implementation on a monthly and quarterly basis to avoid over and under expenditure at the end of the financial year.

  • Conduct community TP reflection/Review meetings and track the implementation of agreed key action points.

  • Evidence of participation in scheduled assessments

  • Quality AOP/DIP and budgets are developed and aligned to strategy

  • TP plans and budgets that are approved in line with national process and scoring 70% and above on national review committee final results

  • Evidence of community issues shared with TPOs to inform concept/proposal development

  • Evidence and functionality of sector promoters and HH cluster members

  • Evidence of exit strategy reviewed from time to time

  • Evidence of cross cutting issues streamlined, implemented and reported on

  • Reduction in RC deaths

  • Budget utilization within the expected variance at the end of the financial year.

  • Mobilization of Households, local organizations, local government, and Private sector for effective project implementation.

  • Innovatively support communities including Registered Children’s (RC) households to participate in Health, nutrition and WASH interventions

  • Intentionally ensure participation of RC households in TP interventions and share evidence on a monthly basis.

  • Mobilize Households into household clusters and other institutions for integrated programs and effective program delivery

  • Sensitize
    Communities to own project interventions through shared-roles for attainment of sustainability.

  • Develop and implement a sustainability plan together with key stakeholders

  • Strengthen government institutions and technical staff in planning and implementation of project plans.

  • Mobilize grass root organizations, Faith Communities and other civil society organizations to ending violence against children

  • Participate/represent world Vision Uganda in the sector review meetings both at community, sub county and district level

  • Compile health, nutrition and WASH issue reports and position papers for sharing with relevant stakeholders at sub county and district level.

  • Functional HH clusters in line with health, nutrition and WASH standards

  • RC data is available for programing decision making.

  • Evidence of RC/RC household participation shared on monthly basis in the MMR,

  • Evidence of community contributions for sustaining program interventions.

  • Evidence of implementation and review of sustainability plan

  • Evidence of integration of project activities into health facility, sub-county and district plans and budgets

  • Evidence or reduced violence against children

  • WVU well represented at facility sub county and district levels

  • Local level Health, nutrition and WASH advocacy issues raised by the community and presented to duty bearers for action in real time

  • Coordination and capacity building

  • Provide technical guidance in needs assessment and facilitate capacity building for community structures (nutrition care groups, VHTs, COVas, health sector promoters etc) and/or partners in accordance with developed capacity building plans/strategies.

  • Follow-up and support trained Care groups, VHTs, HUMCs, water user committees and other community structures to ensure functionality

  • Develop and update database of trained stakeholders’/ community structures periodically

  • Ensure application of standard monitoring and evaluation tools in project implementation.

  • Organize community learning and reflection forums involving local government, CSOs, FBOs, NGOs, private sectors and other relevant technical personnel and ensure actions developed are implemented and reported on.

  • Provide on-site and technical hands on support to health workers and partners for effective service delivery.

  • Coordinate and engage with partners/relevant stakeholders and local authorities in building relationships and consensus on project interventions.

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in community/clinical medicine, human nutrition and dietetics, public health, environmental health

  • Minimum of 1 year’s relevant experience

  • Computer literate (Ms Word, Excel and Power point)

  • Analytical and problem solving skills

  • Community Mobilization and engagement skills

  • Report writing skills

  • Networking and influencing skills

  • Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s)

  • Ability to ride a motorcycle is a must

  • Computer literate

  • Writing and reporting skills

  • Workable knowledge and understanding in the project management cycle

  • Networking and influencing skills

  • Community mobilization and engagement skills

  • Willing to stay in rural setting within sub county of operation

  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.

  • Willing to attend and participate/lead in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
