World Vision International NGO Logistics and Supply Chain Officer - HIWA Project Opportunities in Uganda


Responsibilities

  • Strengthen commodity (pharmaceutical and Laboratory) logistics management, information management and tracking, at health facilities through Supervision Performance Assessment and Recognition Strategy (SPARS) implementation, and use of electronic systems such as DHIS 2 for Web-Based Ordering Systems (WAOS), Rx solutions and open MRS.
  • Support health facilities within the region to effectively implement the Differentiated Service Delivery Models (DSD) for HIV infected clients in care, by ensuring constant availability of commodities.
  • Ensure the national Logistics Management System (LMIS) is kept up to date at all HIWA supported health facilities.
  • Determine the training needs, and develop desired trainings to build capacity of health workers involved in LSCM at the supported Health Facilities.
  • Represent the project at the central level Technical Working Group (TWG), of the Ministry of Health, on medicines procurement and management.
  • Support the revitalization of Medicines and Therapeutic committees (MTCs) at HC IV level.
  • Coordinate the adherence to drug policies and regulations at supported facilities.
  • Quantify and leverage supplies for HIV/AIDS, TB, RMNCAH, and nutrition commodities not supplied by NMS/JMS/MAUL from other sources.
  • Develop and maintain databases for all relevant sites, commodities, lead times, reporting histories, and supervision visits at all levels.
  • Support health facilities to establish logistics management teams to conduct 5S in addition to CQI to bridge service delivery gaps.
  • Coordinate with districts, health sub districts and other stakeholders to improve SCM in the region.
  • Contribute to timely and accurate reporting by the project.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Pharmacy or Equivalent, with additional training in Logistics and Supplies Chain management.
  • The candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of work experience leading a procurement team in a demanding work environment, preferably with an International NGO.
  • Sound public and negotiation skills along with business acumen essential, coupled with attention to details, maturity in decision making and time management skills
  • A proactive person with initiative and drive, honest with a high level of integrity; a team-player with good planning skills
  • A strategic thinker with strategy and procurement experience
  • Computer literate in MS Office

  • Knowledge of M&E, documentation and reporting
  • Proven experience in project management, developing partnerships and Private sector engagement
  • Experience with youth-women centered advocacy and engagement
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Track record demonstrating high integrity, reliability and dependable
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

    World Vision International NGO Project Coordinator Opportunities in Uganda

    Responsibilities

  • Identify and build strategic networks with other actors to support the districts in implementation of MNCH strategies including: Goal oriented ANC, HIV/AIDS, EmNOC, ICCM (Integrated Community Case management) for
    Pneumonia, Diarrhea and Malaria and nutrition programming, community systems strengthening including VHT functionality and health advocacy
  • Provide guidance to the development of project designs and annual operational plans of the MNCH project including timed and targeted Counseling (ttC), mHealth platform at the Village level, Essential Maternal and newborn Care (EmNOC), contribute to the 100 days through the Growth Monitoring Promotion (GMP) and provide technical advice to other MNCH projects.
  • Work in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to improve government interventions in the area of MNCH, providing evidence using the internationally recognized models such as LQAS for community based outcomes and quality improvement approaches including mentoring and coaching of service providers, LiST and qualitative methodologies.
  • Representation and advocacy for World Vision (WV) and other MNCH programming at national level forums using evidence based frameworks including operations research in the area of systems strengthening and the contribution of VHTs to MNCH.
  • Work with WV staff and district partners to technically interpret the MNCH technical approaches in the proposal and facilitate implementation of key activities, including promoting access through the integrated community outreaches approach, Health centre functionality, Positive Deviance Hearth, The Child Days Plus, the Baby Friendly Health Facility Initiatives (BFHI), Helping Babies Breathe and Helping Mothers Survive, cPMTCT and Signal functions for EmNOC for Uganda.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Nutrition, public Health and / or health related discipline.
  • A Masters Degree in Public Health is an added advantage
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in managing similar related projects programs or projects
  • High level of understanding the MNCH, Nutrition and HIV
  • Must have strong organizational skills and ability to work with diverse teams across the organization
  • Excellent skills required in program design, reporting, documentation, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in working communities with good knowledge of public health system and structures
  • Must be creative individual with strong sense of vision, commitment and priorities
  • Must have strong organizational skills and an ability to work with diverse teams across considerable distances Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time
