World Vision International NGO Joining Forces – Project Manager Employment in Kenya


Job Description:

The world’s six leading child-focused NGOs – ChildFund Alliance, Plan International, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes and World Vision – agreed in 2017 to come together to collaborate on the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Chairs of both projects, the Project Manager is responsible for all stages of the project which includes planning, design, execution, and budget and follows up. This person is responsible for project monitoring, quality assurance, Group collaboration, information and achievement of the objectives.
  • Line reporting will be decided by the location of the postholder, and which organisation’s office they’re hosted by (see location).
  • The project manager will be supported by a full time administrator, recruited once the location of the project manager is agreed.
  • The location is flexible, and will be determined by the home country/a country in which the successful candidate is eligible to work, provided it is in a jurisdiction where any member of Joining Forces is registered to operate. From a practical perspective, given the location of most of the project participants, there is a preference for time-zones +/-2 hours from CET. The postholder will be placed on a local contract.

    Qualifications

  • Education to Bachelor’s degree level; Masters degree in a relevant field an advantage
  • Extensive project management experience in a complex organizational setting
  • Relevant experience in the development, humanitarian, human rights or child rights sector, or a related sector
  • A high level of written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience of working in multicultural environments, participation in networks and coalitions, and working effectively in non-hierarchical setting
  • Understanding of multi stakeholder funding processes, and an ability to manage them and transparently report on them (in cooperation with finance experts from the six organizations if required)
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset, but not a prerequisite
  • Experience of working directly on child rights and/or the Sustainable Development Goals is an asset.

    World Vision International NGO Partnership Leader (V.P.) Advocacy & External Engagement Employment in Kenya

    Job Purpose

    The Partnership Leader Advocacy & External Engagement - (PL A&EE) will provide overall leadership and strategic oversight to our Advocacy and External Engagement across the partnership engaging heavily in both internal and external components of this work.

    Responsibilities

  • Engage with influential external stakeholders on the key issues affecting children as identified in Our Promise 2030.
  • Ensure that all senior leaders have appropriate external engagement plans for themselves and their teams.
  • Proactively support the President’s external engagement.
  • Lead ‘It takes a World’ & demonstrates global campaign strategy momentum and impact: Continue to build internal support, momentum of and cross partnership ownership of the campaign.
  • Continue to develop external support for and impact of the campaign through building broad coalitions with all potential partners that can contribute to ending violence against children.
  • Ensure the campaign is mostly with and by children and not only for children.
  • Support the Global Partnership to end violence.

    Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in international studies or relevant field;
  • A minimum of 10 years leadership and operational experience in international relief and development activities; at least five (5) years direct Advocacy/External Engagement experience in a senior advocacy role or as a national director with a strong focus on External Engagement;
  • Strong understanding of and experience in international development and key
    current policy debates;
  • Strong knowledge of the child rights agenda and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development;
  • Demonstrated track record at global level of external influence and of establishing and leading strategic partnerships;
  • Very strong organizational leadership that enables post holder to have a “whole of partnership” view and not just a narrow sectoral view;
  • Excellent communications skills, including as a representative of World Vision in external forums and as a media spokesperson;
  • Successful track record of functioning effectively at senior levels across large and complex multinational organizations (C-suite level);
  • Proven ability to be a risk taker – ability to make timely tough decisions on when and how to speak out and when to advocate more discreetly;
  • Exceptional relational, negotiating and cross cultural skills that develop trust and enable achievement of job objective, both internally and externally;
  • Capacity to act as a servant leader, strong faith in Christ, with the ability to demonstrate this faith through motives and actions in all contexts.

    World Vision International NGO Response Programmes Director Employment in Kenya

    Job Purpose

    The Response Programmes Director oversees/leads the Sector Programming Team, including Program Officer(s), Design Monitor Evaluation (DME), Humanitarian Accountability and Information Management. The Programme Director supports the Response Director (RD) and Operations Director (OD) in designing the response strategy and operations plan and works in close coordination with both.

    Responsibilities

  • Lead team/individual development and provide direction and support as needed to enable effective performance.
  • Contribute to National Office (NO) capacity building in the area of emergency response in coordination with NO leadership and Human Resources (HR).
  • Determine Programmes organisational structure and staffing plan with HR.
  • Work with HR to recruit and deploy Programmes staff and plan for capacity development.
  • Ensure Programmes staff handovers are conducted.
  • Develop Programmes budget in coordination with Finance.
  • Support RD and Finance in developing Response Budget, ensuring strong alignment and coordination with Operations team during budgeting and budget management process.
  • Plan for Programmes Unit transition/integration with NO, where applicable.

    Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3-5 years in leadership role in the humanitarian assistance and development sector, with a significant portion of this in INGOs.
  • 5 years experience in humanitarian assistance work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of key humanitarian principles, standards and best practices.
  • University degree in Humanitarian Studies or relevant field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in program management and implementation of multi-sectoral emergency response projects.
  • Intensive experience in leading a multi-cultural team of professionals.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Experience working in war zones / fragile contexts.
  • Experience in engaging with governmental institutions and multilateral agencies.
  • Experience in managing humanitarian operations that facilitate innovation and calculated risk taking.
  • Work experience as Program Officer at least for 1-3 years in a country other than the home country.
  • Strong team leadership skills.
