Job Description

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of the Logistic Coordinator position is to oversee logistical operations and provide strategic and tactical leadership to particular Logistics staff (Commodity Dispatcher & Stock Controllers) to ensure efficiency, accountability and transparency of logistics management processes.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Plan, direct and oversee the upcoming shipping arrangement and port operation activities relating to the sourcing and logistics cycle, in compliance with World Vision established standards and best practices, donor requirements and local laws

2. Tracking of food commodities to ensure proper commodity accounting by checking quantities dispatched Vs received at final destination.

3. Check all the documents thoroughly before submitting for approval and ensure all payments requests are submitted on time for transport fees

4. Ensure partners received the weekly, monthly & quarterly transferred commodity report timely for reconciliation purpose

5. Perform control activities, analyze commodity management service requests, systems and processes, and advice on compliance matters and improvements needed to mitigate risk.

6. Engage in regular correspondences
within and outside WVE offices for timely shipment and transportation of food commodities to the respective APs

7. Ensures that early notification is given to procurement unit to start the bidding process relying to the ending period of the services contracts. Submit procurement plan and purchase requisition on time.

8. Engage and ensure that appropriate tools like CFP, coaching and mentoring etc… are practiced within the department to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability

Job Requirements

Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

Qualifications Required:

  • University Degree in any related field and experience in Logistics/Supply Chain Management (or significant relevant training and experience.

    Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in logistics/commodity/warehouse management. Minimum two years of experience in relief logistics/commodity management preferred.

    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

    1. Exposure to food aid programs in the country

    2. Experience in managing USAID funded food resources, Commodity management skills and training, logistics and financial management.

    3. Knowledge and Experience of working with Regulation 11

    4. NGO experience and excellent understanding of generally accepted commodity accounting and Title II commodities management

    5. Good knowledge of oral and written English language.
