Job Description

As an International Christian Humanitarian Development organization, World Vision Ethiopia (WVE) is trusted to deliver community service through its 58 Area Development programs (APs) located in seven regional states of the country.

Currently, WVE envisions a thriving organization where our improved business processes come together to transform and model organizational leadership built on sustainable practices. WVE is looking for persons who fulfill the following qualifications.

Purpose of the position:

To ensure community connector projects are established and target youth are supported in alternative livelihood opportunities in alignment with basic humanitarian guidelines, world vision policy, the law of the country and in a participatory manner.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan, support, and follow-up livelihood support activities for the target youth; support the assessment, identification and implementation of community connector projects.

  • Cooperate with, local government offices, private sectors and other stakeholders in the project site to identify job and training opportunities.

  • Engage in the preparation of the project operational plan and contribute to the timely submission of standardized mission reports to project donors and other relevant bodies.

  • Produce. Adopt guidelines and procedures in collaboration with the project consortium and relevant stakeholders for the livelihood support and community connector projects.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • BA in Sociology, social development, business management, Development studies, or other related field and at least 5 years field experience working with Communities in livelihood projects focusing in an NGO context.

  • Very strong communication skills with demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity, and physical stamina

  • Knowledge of the humanitarian sector

  • Strong problem solving, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources

  • Commitment to World Vision Core Values and Vision Statement

  • Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context

  • Agreement with World Vision’s Christian ethos and participation in devotions

  • Knowledgeable of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

    Other requirements

  • Perform other duties as required.

    Working Environment / Conditions:

    The position requires the ability and willingness to travel in the target Region, Zones, and Woredas 50% of the time.
