Job Description

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of the JEOP Food Resource Manager position is to provide management and guidance to the department in implementing food resources program so as to ensure that all food resource program interventions in the AP and non-AP areas are implemented according to the existing policies, standards, procedures, commodity manual and guidelines to maintain the minimum commodity management standards at all levels.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that all food resource programs interventions in the AP and non-AP areas are implemented according to the existing policies, standards, procedures, commodity manuals, and guidelines.

2. Network with donors, government offices and other stakeholders with regards to food resource program..

3. Plan, facilitate and conduct food resource management related training

4. Engage in the preparation of the annual operation plan of the department and contribute to timely submission of standardized monthly, quarterly and annual accomplishment reports to NO, CRS and Support Office

5. Engage in ensuring Commodity Tracking System (CTS) is smoothly operational and its decentralization process and functionality at the respective APs

6. Oversee commodity monitoring and facilitate periodic internal, external and partnership audits

7.
Engage in and ensure that appropriate tools like CFP, coaching and mentoring etc are practiced within the department to enhance smooth staff relations and accountability

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

Qualifications Required:

1. Preferred MA/MSc or BA/BSc in Economics, Business Administration, Relief or Disaster Management, Food Security, Project Management or related fields

Work Experience:

  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in relief operation management or project management with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing or supervisory level in an INGO.


    Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

    1. Technical Training qualifications required: Food aid management, logistics, and financial management experiences.

    2. Exposure to food aid programs in the country

    3. Experience in managing USAID funded food resources, Commodity management skills and training, logistics and financial management.

    4. Knowledge and Experience of working with Regulation 11

    5. Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff and partners;

    6. Experience in monitoring and evaluation

    7. Good knowledge of oral and written English language.

    Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with periodic travel to the field

  • Travel: 30% of Domestic/international travel is required.
