Purpose of the position:

The purpose of the Commodity Distribution Supervising Officer position is to plan, implement and monitor the overall food assistance operation in, Daro Lebu Woreda and supervise, lead and monitor commodity distributors.

He/She will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting through direct and matrix supervision of all DFSA team at all levels of program operations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement all Food Assistance Program of DFSA in its assigned target woredas by engaging in local government partnership and engagement

  • Supervises and monitors daily activities of commodity distributors by engaging in the receipt, storage/handling, issuance and distribution of food commodities at secondary warehouses and FDPs.

  • Register beneficiary using LMMS technology, deliver LMMS ID cards to the right beneficiary and assist to print MBL&ABDL.

  • Be responsible for standard food resources and warehouse management and donor compliance standard practices in DFSA food assistance target woreda in order to ensure food assistance program is carried out as per WVE and donor commodity management minimum standard manuals, policies, procedures and USAID regulations.

  • Supervise all food distribution activities at FDPs and ensures that distributions are carried out according to
    plan, and fill in the BUBD tracking table on weekly bases and report to the Commodity officer at regional DFSA/HO office.

  • Take the lead and responsibility to set up Compliance Response Mechanism (CRM) in all FDPs.

  • Assist all food monitoring and reporting activities through regular field level facilitation, information provision, and teamwork

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

    The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • Qualification required. Preferred MA/MSc or BA or BSC in Rural Development, Economics, Accounting, Management and Related Fields of studies.

  • Experience: 2-4 Years of relevant professional experience in relief /development food assistance implementation or similar experience in INGO.

  • Trained in commodity management (certificate).

  • Trained in LMMS ( Certificate) or have good experience in operating LMMS

  • Very Good Computer skills; excel and use of software applications

  • Able to work accurately; Trustworthy and reliable.

  • Very Good to communicate in Local Language ( in Affan Oromo) and other socio-cultural issues is advantageous as this is a local position.

  • Exposure to food aid programs in the country

  • Experience in working on USAID funded food resources, Commodity management skills and training, logistics and financial management.

  • Knowledge and Experience of working with Regulation 11

  • Experience and skill of report writing

  • Good knowledge of oral and written English language
