World Food Programme Logistics Cluster Officer – Field Operations Jobs in South Sudan; Under the direct supervision of the Head of Logistics Cluster at the Juba Country Office, the officer will lead and coordinate multimodal transport (river, road, air) and common storage in Bor. The role represents the Logistics Cluster in state‑level forums, strengthens partnerships, builds national staff capacity, and ensures efficient, timely humanitarian assistance delivery through WFP’s on‑demand services.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Operations
Coordinate river transport operations, ensuring timely cargo movement along the Nile.
Lead road convoy planning, security liaison, and scheduling.
Manage air transport operations with UNHAS and partners.
Oversee common storage facilities in Bor and surrounding hubs.
Coordinate port and river operations, including barge loading/unloading.
Coordination & Representation
Represent the Logistics Cluster at ICCG, working groups, and task forces.
Provide technical guidance to partners and national staff.
Collaborate with WFP, UNHAS, and humanitarian partners for integrated logistics planning.
Lead emergency response logistics operations in Jonglei and GPAA.
Strengthen partnerships with UN agencies, NGOs, and local authorities.
Capacity Building & Supervision
Supervise junior staff and build capacity through mentoring and training.
Conduct rapid logistics capacity assessments for Jonglei State and GPAA.
Monitoring & Reporting
Produce accurate and timely reports on logistics cluster activities.
Consolidate data for decision‑making and ensure transparency.
Qualifications & Experience
Advanced university degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
For Master’s degree holders: minimum
5 years’ experience in humanitarian logistics coordination.
For Bachelor’s degree holders: minimum 7 years’ experience.
Experience in insecure/conflict‑affected environments.
Strong background in interagency coordination.
Direct involvement in multimodal operations (river, road, air).
Demonstrated leadership in supervising staff.
Skilled in identifying transport risks and selecting appropriate modalities.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong knowledge of humanitarian logistics, supply chain, transport planning, warehousing, and emergency response.
Experience facilitating coordination under the Cluster Approach.
Ability to assess operational needs and recommend solutions.
Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills.
Analytical, communication, and technical report‑writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English required.
