World Bank Group Field Health Specialist Jobs in Nairobi, Kenya

HSD seeks to protect and promote the health and safety of the World Bank Group (WBG) staff and their immediate families, taking account of their individual health, working environment and job demands.

The Field Health Specialist (FHS) will support 4 HSD physicians located in the Africa region.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

  • Provide coordination and management of medical evacuations for staff/dependents.
  • Provide advice to staff/dependents based in the field on health-related matters.
  • Perform on-call Medical Duty Officer responsibilities on a rotating basis to manage after-hour emergencies.
  • Provide coordination of care for severe chronic diseases for staff/dependents.
  • Design and deliver health education and wellness activities to promote a culture of health and safety.
  • Liaise with other HSD units to make sure that complex inquiries in the field of occupational health and safety (e.g., short-term disability, fitness-for-duty, medical clearances, environmental concerns, etc.) as well as mental health are dealt with effectively and efficiently.
  • Work closely with colleagues of the HSD multidisciplinary team based in Nairobi to address health risks at the individual and Country Office levels.
  • Perform international mission travel to assess medical emergency response, deliver health education activities, visit health care facilities, and address occupational health and safety concerns in the Country Offices.
  • Identify and liaise with high quality local and regional health care providers that can be used as contacts for referrals.
  • Build internal and external partnerships, including UN medical teams, International SOS, and Cigna medical teams.
  • Complete administrative and data
    reporting requirements.
  • The successful candidate must be proficient in English;
  • French language highly desirable; have Valid Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner licensure plus an advanced degree in Nurse Practitioner, Master of Nursing or Master of Public Health or equivalent professional credentials combined with relevant education and experience such as Registered Clinical Officer with a Master’s in Public Health;
  • Preferably with 10 years or more of direct relevant experience.
  • Experience working internationally in occupational health settings and in case management/coordination of care is desirable.
