Wildlife Conservation Society Business and Grants Manager - Global Operations Jobs in Rwanda; The Business and Grants Manager will oversee budgets, grants, finances, and program administration for global, cross-cutting programs within WCS’s Global Conservation division. The role provides direct support to Program Directors and works under the guidance of the VP for Global Operations, liaising with multiple departments and partner organizations.

Responsibilities

Budget Planning & Financial Management

  • Lead annual budgeting process for assigned programs.

  • Manage and maintain program budgets, monitor flexible funds and restricted grants.

  • Conduct revenue/expenditure reviews and ensure quality control of financial transactions.

  • Develop short- and long-term financial plans and analytical tools for decision-making.

    Program Administration
  • Establish efficient administrative systems and procedures.

  • Coordinate HR, procurement, contract management, and information management.

  • Review and approve payment requests and transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with WCS policies and maintain documentation archives.

    Grant Management
  • Review grant agreements and contracts; support negotiation and signatures.

  • Ensure proper grant setup in accounting systems and maintain central database.

  • Serve as budget lead and grant manager for global grants.

  • Coordinate audits and grant closures with Regional Controllers.

    Proposal Development
  • Support proposal development with grant budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with WCS policies and cost coverage.

    Grant Reporting
  • Track reporting timelines and ensure timely, accurate donor reporting.

  • Prepare certified financial reports for donors
    (private, foundations, corporations, agencies).

  • Support grant extensions/modifications and payment requests.

    Subaward Management
  • Conduct partner risk assessments and draft subgrant agreements.

  • Monitor subgrantees, track deliverables, review financial reports, and issue amendments.

  • Coordinate with Accounts Receivable on subaward accounting.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business preferred).

  • 5+ years of international grant/financial management experience.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills; experience with SAP or equivalent financial software.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
