Wildlife Conservation Society Biomonitoring Coordinator Jobs in Kenya; The Biomonitoring Coordinator will support the design, implementation, and management of biodiversity monitoring systems across WCS Nigeria landscapes. This role ensures robust ecological data collection, analysis, and reporting to support adaptive conservation management and donor compliance. The position reports to the Program Manager.

Contract Type: Fixed term
Duration: 13 months (renewable based on availability of funds)

    Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ecological and socio‑economic monitoring systems.

  • Lead ecological data collection and coordinate socio‑economic surveys using SMART/EarthRanger, camera traps, bioacoustics, GIS, and KoboToolbox.

  • Manage data quality control, storage, and analysis; produce scientific reports and donor‑compliant outputs.

  • Supervise and support field teams in implementing monitoring protocols.

  • Lead biomonitoring capacity‑building training for staff and rangers.

  • Collaborate with site coordinators, project leads, and partners to harmonize monitoring approaches.

  • Provide evidence‑based recommendations for conservation decision‑making and threat assessments.

  • Contribute to scientific knowledge products, presentations, and stakeholder workshops.

  • Support integration of ecological monitoring with community engagement initiatives.


    Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in ecology, conservation biology, natural resource management, or related discipline (PhD an advantage).

  • Minimum 3 years’ progressive experience in biodiversity monitoring or conservation programs.

  • Experience in protected area management or conservation landscapes, preferably in Nigeria.

  • Proven expertise with biomonitoring tools (SMART/EarthRanger, GIS, remote sensing, transects, camera trapping, bioacoustics).

  • Experience in program/project management, supervision, donor reporting, and
    compliance.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, including remote field environments.

  • Results‑oriented, proactive, and solution‑driven.
