We are currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Water Engineer for our Field Office in Kumi to support the implementation of Whave’s project in Kumi District to improve reliable access to safe water in rural areas.

Responsibilities;


  • Take lead in assessing and provision of technical services relating to operation and maintenance of water sources
  • Developing supply chains of water source hardware parts and maintaining adequate stock.
  • Build the capacity of local preventive maintenance technicians to maintain water sources including developing maintenance schedules of water sources.
  • Keeping accurate records of costs and obtaining accurate records from preventive maintenance service providers.
  • Managing all technical work done by local preventive maintenance service providers
  • Work closely with the local officials from the district and sub-counties
  • Developing and promoting water treatment and other sanitation and hygiene technologies
  • Development of life cycle tools assessments
  • Provide administrative support to the office.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time from your line manager.

    Requirements

  • The applicant must hold a Degree level education in engineering
  • A minimum of three years’ experience installing and/or maintaining rural water systems in Uganda
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills such as knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Ability to drive and ride a motorbike is essential with a valid driving permit
