WellShare International is an international U.S.-based non-governmental organization headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota whose mission is to increase access to sustainable community health around the world.

WellShare is currently implementing the Advancing Community-based Access to Injectable Contraceptives in Uganda project (APC-GM-0041) International under the Advancing Partners & Communities project and funded by USAID.

WellShare is recruiting for the following positions: Program Manager (Iganga)

Position Description:

Manages all WellShare programmatic, administrative, and financial operations in Iganga and Bugweri Districts, Uganda.

Collaborates with WellShare Country Director, Senior Finance Officer, Operations Officer, consultants, support staff and District stakeholders to ensure successful program implementation with appropriate inputs and outputs, and to reach intermediary and end-of-project goals as described in approved project technical applications and work plans.

  • Iganga District with frequent travel (40%) to Kampala and Bugweri Districts

    Essential Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum five years of experience coordinating HIV/AIDS, FP/RH, and/or other community health/development projects, preferably in East Africa.
  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Public Health, Social/ Community Development, or related field.
  • Sound technical knowledge/experience in FP/RH, particularly implementation of community-based FP programs.
  • Background in training, institutional capacity building, collaborating, and support to CBOs or district local governments, as well as training and supporting VHTs in community based health activities, FP experience preferred.
  • Experience coordinating USAID-funded projects at community level.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written documents, including reports to line managers, senior management, donors, partners, and project stakeholders.
  • Experience with rigorous M&E requirements; develop field-level M&E plans; understands key M&E concepts, tools, and best practices.
  • Advanced computer skills, including advanced typing skills and advanced use of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to motivate others and create a
    team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in local languages an advantage.

    Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversees programmatic, administrative, and financial operations of WellShare projects in Busoga Regions (Iganga and Bugweri Districts).
  • Maintains financial responsibility for the CBA2I program, including
  • Coordinates CBA2I and Self Injection program activities in two districts; supports District Health Team and project staff in implementation of program activities as needed and appropriate; builds capacity for implementation where gaps exist at district level.
  • Collaborates with ADHO, Health Workers, VHTs and other consultants and stakeholders to ensure quality Community Based FP services are implemented per the project work plan.
  • Develops detailed field-level monthly, quarterly, and annual work plans to guide on-the-ground implementation; monitors monthly work plan progress to assure timely completion of activities and ensures that targets are reached at district level.
  • Responsible for drafting timely, high quality programmatic, administrative and financial reports for district-level activity; submits reports to senior management according to internal and external guidelines and deadlines.
