Well Told Story Research Assistant, Knowledge & Learning Kenya Jobs


The Research Assistant at K&L is engaged in ongoing Measurement, Learning and Evaluation projects in a supportive role as required by the project lead.

The project lead provides guidance and approval on the given project.

RA will be working on any projects where their contribution is deemed important and there is a potential for learning and professional development.

RA might be engaged in more than one project at a time and work with more than one project lead

Key Projects:

The core of RA responsibilities will be focused on three on-going projects:

  • The Risk Monitor – updating a database of on-going conversations relevant to Shujaaz topics in the media and other contexts outside Shujaaz; monthly reporting on the trends to K&L team and quarterly to Shujaaz production and media teams.
  • SMS feedback coding – assisting Digital RC with coding of the SMS received in response to call-outs in Shujaaz comic.
  • The Shujaaz Konnect – represent K&L team at the events, conduct small-scale qualitative and quantitative studies as planned by the K&L team, assist with recording the learnings from the Policy Fight Clubs.

    Out side these project, there will be additional activities related to ongoing research by the K&L team.

    Key requirements:

  • Timeliness - Timely fulfillment of the assigned tasks in coordination with lead K&L team members for each project.
  • Initiative and pro-activity - RA is encouraged to contribute to
    any and all K&L team activities including client retention and new client acquisition, research design innovation and process improvement under close guidance of K&L Manager as other team members as necessary.
  • Eagerness to learn - RA is expected to actively engage in enhancing their research skills and expertise in traditional and innovative research online and off-line by undertaking challenging assignments and participating in internal and external trainings and workshops.

    Desired qualifications:

  • First degree in Actuarial Science, Economics or any other relevant field
  • Previous experience with research projects as an enumerator, field team member
  • Knowledge of SPSS and PowerPoint is a plus

    Personal characteristics:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel in particular)
  • Self-motivated, quick and enthusiastic learner
  • Teamplayer, who can work harmoniously with others
  • Result-focused, agile, able to multi-task and work under time-pressure
    The role is located in Nairobi.
