Our in-house research team provides the different production teams with a deep understanding of our audience and clear strategies to address what hinders and motivates them.

  • Research Assistant, Knowledge & Learning
    RA at K&L is engaged in ongoing Measurement, Learning and Evaluation projects in a supportive role as required by the project lead. The project lead provides guidance and approval on the given project.

    RA will be working on any projects where their contribution is deemed important and there is a potential for learning and professional development.

    RA might be engaged in more than one project at a time and work with more than one project lead.

    Key Projects:

    The core of RA responsibilities will be focused on;

  • Field Test M&E and reporting – preparing media testing materials, including research instruments, fieldwork and training materials, data tabs and reports as assigned.
  • The Risk Monitor – updating a database of on-going conversations relevant to Shujaaz topics from external media and other contexts outside Shujaaz; monthly reporting on the trends to K&L team and quarterly to Shujaaz production and media teams.
  • Strategy ownership - serving as the Events & HMBA strategy representative and participate in all story lining/scripting sessions and call-out design; lead quarterly reviews on the strategy.
  • Panel of Professionals - recruiting panel participants for all campaigns (Sex, Governance and Money) and assist the HOD/RM in developing a tool for all campaigns.
  • Data analysis & reporting - assisting the HOD in analyzing data and writing research reports as required
  • Annotation of messages - working closely with third-party research partners to support the studies as required
  • Outside these projects, there will be additional activities related to ongoing research by the K&L team.
  • The RA will be expected to learn and actively utilize internal workflow procedures and reporting systems.

    Key requirements:
  • Attention
    to detail – RA is expected to be thorough and accurate when accomplishing tasks for all the areas involved.
  • Timeliness - Timely fulfillment of the assigned tasks in coordination with lead K&L team members for each project.
  • Communication – RA should be able to convey thoughts and express ideas effectively - both orally and in writing
  • Initiative and pro-activity - RA is encouraged to contribute to any and all K&L team activities including client retention and new client acquisition, research design innovation and process improvement under close guidance of K&L Manager as other team members as necessary.
  • Eagerness to learn - RA is expected to actively engage in enhancing their research skills and expertise in traditional and innovative research online and off-line by undertaking challenging assignments and participating in internal and external trainings and workshops.

    Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Population Research, International Development or International Affairs. Top-performing undergraduate background.
  • 1-3 years of research experience. Previous experience with research projects as an enumerator, field team member is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in SPSS, Stata, SAS and/or R
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Suit – Word, Excel and Powerpoint in particular

  • Regular working hours and a 5-day working week with occasional working Saturdays
