Wefarm Engagement Coordinator and Agricultural Specialist Jobs in Uganda

Job Description

The Engagement Coordinator and Agricultural Specialist should be able to manage long-term engagement strategies and capture insights and learnings in order to assist in global product design and delivery.

The ideal candidate for this role will live the first Wefarm guiding principle which is to make our farmers’ trust deserved. He or she will always act in the best interests of our farmers by ensuring that our engagement strategy is dictated by their challenges and by their needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of a process for measuring ‘quality’ of content shared with users, and strive to continually improve the quality of information available through Wefarm
  • Research and follow key trends and advances in global agriculture and report these findings back to the wider team on a regular basis.
  • Advise on Crop cycles and patterns for scheduled communications.
  • Ensure users needs are clearly understood and that the product effectively reflect them
  • Provide strategic quality answers to farmers on the system
  • Develop a process for collecting and collating quality tips and answers from users that can be shared both back to users and more broadly
  • Monitoring of incorrect or inappropriate answers on the system
  • Track and report on key trends of questions on the system; track repeatedly asked questions

    Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in at least one, core agronomics sector; a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in agronomy
  • Highly strategic, creative and analytical;
  • Effective, data-focused project manager; especially for long (3+ month) projects
  • Customer-focused; passionate about supporting farmers;
  • Proficient speaker and writer of English, Runyankole, and Luganda;
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the growing process (including common diseases and problems) of the main cash crops grown in Uganda
  • Flexible, and highly willing to adapt to changes with a high-growth startup organization
  • Comfortable with using a computer and knowledge of Office tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; clear communicator, enjoys working with international teams

    Wefarm Engagement Head of Marketing Jobs in Uganda

    Job Description

    The Head of Marketing will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all Wefarm Uganda marketing strategy, marketing communications, collateral development, digital marketing development and public relations and communications activities.

    Responsibilities

  • Oversees all marketing activity in Uganda, ensuring that all national marketing plans and tactics effectively fulfil global brand and marketing strategy while serving the primary purpose of user acquisition.
  • Create new opportunities for Wefarm Uganda across traditional, experiential and digital marketing channel tactics.
  • Monitor, test and scale existing user acquisition channels (like radio, farming events, etc.) and develop new ideas to implement and test;
  • Build a network of key influencers in the spaces of agriculture and technology; work with farming communities and their leaders to build advocacy
  • Recruitment and selection of any new members of the marketing team, including support staff, freelancers and agencies.
  • Manage all Wefarm Uganda content marketing needs, including work with external suppliers to produce locally relevant collateral.
  • Lead communications strategy in-country by targeting select high-return PR opportunities across the earned and owned credibility spectrum. Write press releases and media FAQs as required.
  • Work with business team to support the development and implementation of the Wefarm commercial strategy
  • Regular reporting of in-country marketing activities
    and regular production of analysis reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) for Wefarm’s UK office.

    Qualifications

  • 7+ years experience in designing and implementing marketing strategies to reach remote communities in East Africa
  • Must demonstrate a strong willingness to adapt, and move from one set of duties to another as the startup grows and pivots over time;
  • Knowledge of social network metrics, growth and user acquisition strategies and an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of user growth in rural areas with ‘offline’ users through SMS
  • Knowledge and understanding of rural farming communities in East Africa, and the unique challenges and opportunities in marketing to these communities
  • Experience in planning and executing multiple projects and business activities at once, in different regions and countries
  • Experience in building strong relationships with senior executives, media outlets, agricultural shows, mobile networks, etc.
  • Ability to develop strong network of key influencers in different sectors including rural farming as well as data, communication, and mobile technology
  • Enjoys working with international teams

    Wefarm Engagement Head of Product Jobs in Uganda

    Job Description

    Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with our teams in Africa you’ll manage all aspects of our product development and vision. You’ll need to excel at translating raw research and complex concepts into clear understandable ideas and plans. As the first dedicated product person in the company you’ll be comfortable getting your hands dirty on the end to end product process, and interacting with all departments of Wefarm – from CTO, data science and engineering to field teams in Africa. The role will also have opportunities for international travel.

    Qualifications

  • At least 8 to 10 years experience in product roles – you may be a product manager ready to take the next step or a an experienced HoP looking for an exciting new challenge
  • Skilled in wireframing with best UX/UI principles and ability to define product roll-out strategy. Happy to combine strategic product leadership with getting your hands dirty
  • Knowledge of AARRR metrics, particularly Activation and Retention, and the mechanics of increasing MAU on a network style platform
  • Experience with network platforms, and/or SMS or chat-like services a definite bonus
  • Experience of startups and the challenges and opportunities of early stage growth companies desirable
  • A great manager and leader, able to step in as a senior member of the team and build our product team over time
