Watu Credit Limited Data Engineer Jobs in Kenya;The Analytics Engineer will shape and establish data engineering foundations, define best practices, pipeline architecture and technical standards. The role involves building scalable, trusted data solutions using Google Cloud Platform, Datastream, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and dbt, while leading the company’s initial expansion into AI tools, agents and intelligent workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, create and deploy robust data ingestion pipelines.

  • Transform raw data into clean, organized datasets using dbt, SQL and Google Cloud tools.

  • Ensure data quality, consistency and strict security protocols.

  • Define and implement data governance rules.

  • Manage Data Warehouse administration for performance and accessibility.

  • Implement and maintain Analytics Engineering tools and infrastructure.

  • Support scalable data architecture design.

  • Develop custom AI agents, tools and workflows to automate business processes.

    Requirements

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Data Engineering or Back‑end Engineering.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.

  • Deep understanding of modern Data Warehouse technologies and best practices.

  • Expertise in ETL/ELT tools and processes.

    Technical Knowledge (Added Advantage)

  • Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud (Cloud Storage, BigQuery,
    Datastream, Dataflow).

  • Practical experience with dbt.

  • Familiarity with AI engineering concepts (Vector Databases, RAG, LLM tool integration).

  • Experience with Big Data and non‑relational databases.

  • Knowledge of data streaming analytics and real‑time processing.

  • Proficiency with Git.

  • Knowledge of other coding languages beyond Python and SQL.

    Non‑Technical & Soft Skills

  • Rigorous attention to detail and data quality.

  • Ability to work independently and proactively.

  • Self‑starter, target‑oriented and delivery‑focused.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
