Thousands of retailers across East and West Africa use Wasoko's mobile ordering and delivery platform to receive the goods they need as quickly and cheaply as possible while also accessing growth financing for the first time. Role:
Global Head of Financial Services, reporting to CEO
We are looking for a visionary leader who is excited to develop the future of retail. Leveraging their extensive experience in Financial Services & Fintech, they will lead a team to design and launch a host of new financial products that support the growth and health of Africa’s informal retailers.
As a member of Wasoko’s Senior Leadership, you will help guide the company’s strategic direction, enhance our culture and support and grow our people.


About You
You have extensive experience in Financial Services and Fintech, a nuanced perspective on where the sector is heading, where the biggest opportunities are, and how to leverage them. You are an excellent communicator, collaborator, coach and leader who is as adept at articulating a vision as you are at laying out the roadmap for reaching it.


Location:
Initial onboarding will take place in Nairobi, though the role can eventually be based in any of our current markets below with travel expected at

least 30% of the time:
•Kenya (Nairobi)
•Tanzania (Dar es Salaam)
•Rwanda (Kigali)
•Uganda (Kampala)
•Senegal (Dakar)
•Ivory Coast (Abidjan)


Duties & Responsibilities:
•Lead and manage the Financial Services team to achieve critical performance targets and business objectives
•Develop and execute a visionary Financial Services strategy backed by a solid business case and metrics
•Pilot, evaluate, and iterate on new product/service offerings that drive value for our retailers
•Inspire, coach, and motivate your team to achieve their very best, both collectively and as individuals
•Instill and maintain in the team a deep focus on and commitment to our customers that ensures we understand their needs and are building with them in mind
•Build strong, collaborative relationships with your fellow senior leaders across Wasoko
•Embody Wasoko’s cultural values and help ensure people love working here


Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess:
•Bachelor's Degree minimum, Masters Degree or advanced qualifications related to Financial Services a plus
•5+ years of experience in Financial Services, Fintech, or a related area; experience in retail, BNPL, underwriting, a major plus
•2+ years of senior leadership level responsibility and team management experience
•Excellence in strategy development, executive communication
