    GOAL Ethiopia is currently working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders and responds to humanitarian crises in Ethiopia by working closely with local communities, local government and other key actors with a strong emphasis on resiliency, preparedness and longer term impacts. GOAL Ethiopia's major funders are USAID, OFDA, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid and UNOCHA.

    About the Role

    GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, motivated and experienced WASH & NFIs Programme Coordinator for its Humanitarian response and Development Programme located at Head Office/Addis Ababa with a dynamic, technically competent and motivated personality to lead, inspire and manage the overall operation.

    Under the supervision of the Head of Multi-Sectoral Programme of WASH, Health and Nutrition and in coordination with other sector Coordinators and managers, the WASH & NFI Programme Coordinator is primary responsibilities include program development, implementation, coordination with other actors, timeliness and quality assurance, monitoring, evaluation and staff supervision.

    The Programme Coordinator will also work closely with GOAL’s program managers and regional humanitarian managers in field offices to ensure implementation and integration of WASH & NFI activities with other humanitarian emergency relief, recovery and development projects targeting vulnerable communities, IDPs and other conflict affected populations.

    He/she will ensure the consistency, quality, efficiency, and accountability of GOAL supported WASH and NFI activities across Ethiopia.

    About You

    You'll be an experienced WASH & NFIs Programme Coordinator with humanitarian work experience. Under the supervision of the Head of Multi-Sectoral Programme of WASH, Health and Nutrition and in coordination with other sector coordinators and managers, you will be directly responsible for program development, implementation, coordination with other actors, timeliness and quality assurance, monitoring, evaluation and staff supervision.

    You will work closely with the Programme team in all over the Humanitarian response and Development Programme as well as Head Office for integrated implementation of the programmes objective specifically with the Health and Nutrition Programmes.

    Job Requirements

  • MSc. / BSc. degree with relevant, progressive experience in Water Engineer/ Structural/Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related technical field; Master’s degree is highly preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experiences for MSc. or 8 years for BSc
  • Demonstrated knowledge and at least five years of relevant work experience with an excellent program management
    skill, particularly in WASH & Shelter/NFI programs, preferably with an International NGO

    Key qualities:
  • Competency in leading assessments in WASH, NFIs and Shelter sectors;
  • Proficiency in preparation of project briefing documents, presentations, conducting internal and external orientations concerning the project;
  • Familiarity in Project Design, planning and Business Development and implementation of WASH infrastructure projects;
  • Strong knowledge of proactive project management through strong adherence to program quality standards and evidence-based decisions;
  • Competency in concept paper and proposal development, strategic and operational planning, coherent grant proposal and report writing techniques;
  • Hands on experience in developing working relationships with governmental and non-governmental organizations and relevant stakeholders where GOAL implements WASH program and others as appropriate;
  • Strong knowledge of budget planning and management, monitoring and evaluation and report writing;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of mainstreaming organizations policies and procedures according to area of responsibility;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of donor compliance and related issues.

    Desirable qualities, Skills and Competences:
  • Demonstrated experience in concept paper, proposal development to a very high standard;
  • Strong knowledge of operational planning, budget planning and management, monitoring and evaluation and excellent report writing;
  • Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, transparent and participatory management;
  • Demonstrated technical and managerial ability and sound judgment skills;
  • Ability to effectively liaise with government, NGOs, community leaders and other stakeholders;
  • Keeping Respect, accountability, excellence, adaptability, innovation, building partnership, communicating with impact, coaching, facilitating change, developing teams, information monitoring, planning and organizing, leading through vision and value;
  • Excellent communicator, facilitator and trainer; flexible and capable of working with an international country team; attention to detail, ability to work under deadline.
  • Effective coordination, representation and presentation skills (internal and external)
    Proficiency in verbal and written English and knowledge of local language other than Amharic is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in standard office software packages;
