    Job Purpose / Summary:

    Responsible for developing Learning and Development programs, Performance management and Environmental Health and safety policies, standards and strategies within the company.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Learning and Development

  • Develops and continuously reviews the organization training policy and strategy in line with Group’s strategic plan.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor training programs within the organization.
  • Manage training needs assessment for individual staff in consultation with HOD’s including assessment methods and measurement tools.
  • Preparing the annual training plan for staff for both technical and soft skills development for improved service delivery
  • Plan and deliver training courses personally where necessary to compliment that provided externally or internally by others
  • Conduct robust induction and orientation sessions. Actual facilitation of induction courses.
  • Creating and maintaining processes to monitor the health and effectiveness of training interactions
  • Ensures the training budget is managed effectively to maximize the capacity building of staff to meet current and future training needs.
  • Implement and drive a robust internship program that will enhance capacity building and develop a pool of young talent.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly management reports on Health and Safety and L&D

    Performance Management

  • Manage the development and implementation of the Group performance appraisal program and provides advice and recommendations to management and staff.
  • Provide regular sensitization of staff on the performance management system to ensure it is understood and effectively implemented.
  • Leads the implementation of the performance management system that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee development programs.
  • Analyzes and reports on measurement results.
  • Provides ongoing oversight and support to ensure that performance measures are being used to effectively manage operations, identify and manage risks, and effect organizational change.

    Environmental Health and Safety

  • Advises managers of potential HR risks (assessing hazard, those potentially affected, evaluate nature and likelihood of risk, record, etc.) to enable their monitoring and mitigation.
  • Ensures Environmental, Health and Safety policies and standards are in place for and understood and adhered
    to.
  • Establish Environmental Health & Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and annual Targets
  • Responsible for EHS quality, implementation, and performance monitoring and conduct annual effectiveness reviews of the Management System.
  • Establish and maintain a register of HSSE legislative requirements, permits and status of regulatory compliance
  • Review the Company’s EHS performance on monthly basis, determine corrective action plans with Line managers and contribute to achievement of continuous improvement
  • Conducts workplace surveys, safety audits and assessments. Advises management of conditions requiring corrective action and work with them to develop solutions and follow up.
  • Develops and implements EHS training

    HR Compliance

  • In liaison with other HR tem members ensure that HR policies are updated and in line with various legislations
  • Ensure legal compliance in relation to work permits and visa renewals for all expatriates
  • In consultation with the Director HR, draw and implement sustainable human resource action plans based on recommendations from organization review and external audits.
  • Facilitate and carry out scheduled HR audits to mitigate any legal liability for the Group

    Skills and Abilities

  • Eight (8) years’ experience in areas of learning and development
  • EHS Management
  • Risk assessment tools and methods
  • Excellent presentation, report writing and research skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • EHS Management Systems Good understanding of employment legislation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of HR best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical and data management skills
  • Results oriented and strong attention to details
