Background

Vétérinaires Sans Frontières - Germany (VSF Germany) is a non-governmental, non-profit making international Organization, engaged in the field of veterinary relief and development work providing humanitarian aid and development assistance to pastoralists and vulnerable communities in areas where livestock is of importance.

With support in animal health, agriculture, marketing, and food safety, VSFG works towards food security and strengthened livelihoods of pastoralist communities. VSF Germany implements activities in Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda and Somalia.

VSF Germany seeks to recruit qualified and well experienced staff for the position of Consortium Accountant to be based at VSF Germany office in South Sudan. The holder of this position will have an overall and project oversight for the project implemented in South Sudan Country Program under VSF Germany.

The pay range for this position attracts a maximum of $3000 per month gross with placement determined by the level of experience as assessed during the recruitment process. Female candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will be assigned the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Monitor project expenditures, ensuring adherence to the approved budget.

  • Prepare accurate financial reports in line with EU guidelines and reporting deadlines.

  • Manage cash flow, including disbursements to consortium partners.

  • Facilitate financial audits and respond to audit queries.

  • Work closely with other consortium members to ensure financial transparency and alignment.

  • Develop and implement financial procedures,
    including procurement and payment processes.

  • Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with EU financial regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and financial transactions.

  • Ensure that financial practices align with the grant agreement.

  • Prepare regular financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with project managers, auditors, and EU representatives on financial matters.

  • Any other duty assigned by the line manager

    Qualification and Competencies

    The ideal Consortium Accountant should possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Education: A degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably in EU-funded projects.

  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in handling financial data and documentation.

  • Communication Skills: Effective communication in English, both written and verbal.
