VSO NGO Human Resources Intern Jobs in Kenya

To perform various administrative tasks and support our HR function The Human Resource Intern will be a valuable resource by supplementing the existing human and knowledge resources within VSO’s Kenya office/Nairobi Hub and it programs. This is also an opportunity for the intern to exchange and actively learn from other staff members.


Responsibilities

  • Support recruitment and selection
    activities for staff and volunteer roles.
  • Update Salesforce system with all
    people related information as well as
    supporting line managers.
  • Gather payroll changes data on a
    monthly basis and submit to finance in a
    timely manner.
  • Prepare/generate HR-related reports off
    Salesforce for management as and when
    needed e.g. leave records, timesheets,
    performance records, completion of
    mandatory trainings etc.
  • Address employee and volunteer
    queries and escalate them as necessary.
  • Review and distribute HR
    correspondence as necessary.
  • Participate in organizing meetings in
    country and regionally.

    Key Performance Indicators

  • Assigned recruitment and selection
    activities facilitated efficiently.
  • People related information updated on
    Salesforce in compliance with VSO’s
    requirements and the Kenyan employee legislation.
  • Employee and volunteer data related to
    new starters, change of status and
    termination submitted to finance in a timely manner
  • Management reports prepared every
    quarter are accurate and complete and
    provide a comprehensive picture of compliance with processes and procedure

    Skills, Knowledge and
    Experience required


  • Bachelor or Masters of Science in Human Resource management
  • Current enrolment in a graduate or undergraduate degree programme in Human Resource Management.

    Essential:

  • Good level of computer skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and excellent interpersonal

    skills.

  • Self-organized with ability to manage time and tight schedules, working effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Strong level of attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to new situations, with a positive attitude to working in an international organization.
  • Commitment to VSO’s values

    Desirable:

  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Experience of working with different cultures and backgrounds.
