Role purpose:

The core purpose of this role is to provide high-quality reward & benefits guidance and support within Vodacom South Africa. The Reward and Benefits Lead serves as a point of contact for Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP’s), Centres of Expertise (COE’s), and Business Leaders on Remuneration, incentive schemes, and benefits programs across Vodacom South Africa.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the successful delivery for all Remuneration interventions, which includes inter alia:

  • Annual Remuneration Review (Tool / Communication / Training & Education)

    Short Incentive

  • December Bonus process

    Long Term Incentive

  • Ensure that Human Resources Business partners have a comprehensive understanding of the Vodacom Remuneration strategy and Philosophy and the underlying Remuneration principles guiding these.

  • Lead market intelligence activities, including the submission of salary surveys, compensation benchmarking and analyzing of data to provide the business and HRBP’s with sound analytics to base their Reward decisions on.

  • In conjunction with HRBP and COE’s the Reward and Benefits Lead will design project specific performance and retention incentive plans, as well as support global initiatives including the Annual Salary Review and incentive processes.

  • A key focus will be providing guidance on the uplift of the Vodacom SA employee value proposition, ensuring compliance with local legislative requirements where applicable.

  • Communicating with employees and management through the update of HR policies.

  • Keep up to date with and advise key stakeholders of the best practice in the industry/market. A key responsibility would be to identify where the Vodacom practice is not consistent with this and to develop and implement action plans to ensure that best practice is applied, where appropriate.

  • Continual monitoring of the market regarding best practices and an evaluation of these in terms of relevance and applicability to the Vodacom context.

  • Understanding of the Benefits landscape in South Africa
    and the impact for Vodacom

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    Education & Qualifications

  • Post Matric qualification – 3-year Degree/Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution in either HR or Finance

  • 5 – 8 years of sound experience in compensation management and/or data analysis
    South African Reward Association (SARA) Global Reward Practitioner qualification would be an advantage

    Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

  • Strong numerical and advanced analytical and Excel skills

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams and senior managers

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – both oral and written

  • Excellent relationship and project management skills

  • Excellent influencing skills and credibility at the senior level

  • Self-Starter

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize own work as well as that of others

  • Good working knowledge of employee tax, certain elements of corporate tax and legal compliance requirements of reward.

  • Stays abreast of current trends related to the Rewards & Benefits products and services and anticipates future trends likely to have an impact on the business

  • Experience in completion and analysis of remuneration surveys available in our markets

  • Experience in using HR databases and other IT systems

  • Experience in creating and implementing Reward Policies and managing the changes.
