Overall objective of the project

  • Enhancing the capacities of the local authorities to proactively support job-seekers to have better access to information on available job opportunities and job placements.

    Specific objective of the project

  • The local public-private governance system, including empowered One-Stop-Job-Centres (OSJC), is capacitated to plan, deliver, manage and monitor effective job opportunities for vulnerable youth and women at district, zonal, regional and national levels.

  • Enabled environment for a strengthened private sector in Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples (SNNP) Regions promoting economic development through better access to finance by SMEs and self-employment opportunities for vulnerable youth and women.

  • Agriculture Technical Vocational Educational Training (A/TVET) offers are more flexible, demand driven and matches job opportunities facilitating skills development and school to work transition.

    Main Responsibilities and specific tasks include but not limited to the following:

  • Ascertains that all relevant finance documents are in place and appropriate before payment approval is made;

  • Prepare petty cash and bank payments according to the relevant supporting documents;

  • Purchase the necessary materials & service for the project;

  • Post transactions into the organization GIVE software;

  • Close monthly reports and prepare periodic financial reports;

  • Codes expenses with correct budget line account and charging to the appropriate class/program;

  • Prepares bank reconciliation every month and takes the necessary action to correct when needed;

  • Follow-up of finance management and assure the appropriate utilization of
    the fund;

  • Prepares the necessary financial reports for relevant government offices as needed;

  • Send projects financial reports with relevant documents in a monthly manner;

  • Deals with and follow up bank activities like timely transfers, deposits, withdrawals and collection of advices, cheque books and bank statements;

  • Performs proper and explanatory filing system for petty cash, journal vouchers, and check transaction vouchers of the office;

    Job Requirements

    Essential qualifications, skills and abilities required:

    Qualification

  • BA degree in Accounting or Accounting & Finance from a recognized university or college

    Experience

  • Relevant experience of minimum of two years in Accounting and Finance field. NGO experience is highly preferable.

    Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work in team and demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills;

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft office, internet and proven experience in accounting softwares

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Amharic and English. Knowledge of Sidama and/or Gedeo local languages is an asset.

  • Knowledge of intervention area is an asset;

  • Willingness to travel and work in remote areas for field work;

  • Recommendation letter from the most recent employer; and

  • Able to present release letter from current employer in two weeks after job offer.
