Duties:

Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Mission’s Office Management Specialist, incumbent serves as Archivist for U.S. Embassy Kampala. Accessing Embassy, implementing partner, host government, and other records, incumbent identifies and records current and historical examples of U.S. assistance to Uganda, collating it and making it available for the use of all Embassy sections, in whatever form may be most useful to them.

Works with Information Resource Management (IRM) to manipulate data for use and with Public Affairs Section to publish it.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education:

  • At least two years of college/university studies is required.

    Requirements:

    Experience:

  • At least 18 months of experience in a field requiring significant research, analysis and reporting is required.

    Language:

  • Fluent working knowledge speaking/reading/writing English and good working knowledge speaking/reading/writing Luganda is required.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication, as well as good interpersonal skills are required to develop and maintain effective, sustainable working relationships with national and international sources and with IT team supporting project requirements.

  • Strong research and analytical skills and judgment are required for incumbent to identify relevant information, avoid double-counting of assistance, and identify gaps and how to obtain the necessary information to fill them.

  • Job holder must have strong organizational skills to operate independently, including in a high-stress, high demanding environment with limited direct supervision of
    day-to-day activities and to lead a results-driven program.

  • Computer software skills that include working with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and Outlook are required.

  • Keyboarding skills that require both speed and accuracy are required for recording and modifying information gathered.

  • Incumbent must be able to develop the ability to manipulate large amount of data in order to maintain the assistance database.

  • Mathematical skills sufficient to aggregate and identify anomalies in financial data gathered in research is required.

    Qualifications:

    All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
