Summary:

The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Appliance Technician.

The work schedule for this position is:

• Full Time, 40 hours per week

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) following receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties:

Assigned to the GSO Property section performing general appliances and equipment repairs at the Warehouse, Chancery and leased residential properties.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education:

Completion of secondary school (O&A level) and vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing electrician skills is required.

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Three years’ experience in appliance repair and installation/electrical work is required.

    Job Knowledge:

  • Must have full electrician knowledge of established practices, handling of appliances/equipment and procedures of the electrical trade.

    Evaluations: (This may be tested)

    Language:

  • Level III (Good working knowledge) English, both spoken and written is required.

  • Level III (Good working knowledge) Luganda both spoken and written is required.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to use all mechanical and electrical tools/equipment professionally to determine extent of damage and experience to make necessary recommendations for equipment repair or replacement.

  • Must hold valid Class B Ugandan driver’s license. Must have computer skills i.e., knowledge in Excel, Microsoft word, outlook
    etc.

    Qualifications:

  • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
