U.S. Embassy to Kenya Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic Jobs;The Mechanic oversees the maintenance and repair of U.S. Government (USG) vehicles at post, including those operated by the Motor Pool and other USG agencies.

Responsibilities include preventative mechanical and electrical maintenance, routine servicing, repair work, and ensuring outsourced services meet contract specifications and quality standards.

The role also services the armored vehicle fleet per annual guidance and manages DriveCam components to ensure safety, reliability and operational readiness of the vehicle fleet.

Key Duties

Vehicle Servicing & Inspection – 60%

  • Service USG vehicles with preventative and scheduled maintenance.

  • Perform oil changes, brake and suspension work, minor electrical repairs.

  • Conduct tire rotations, changes and wheel balancing.

  • Service armored vehicles per Annual Armored Vehicle Maintenance Guidance.

  • Inspect vehicles for servicing, repair, parts replacement and safety compliance.

  • Inspect vehicle certificates/licenses and report expired ones.

  • Install, dismantle and maintain DriveCam components on mission vehicles.

    Procurement & Contract Services – 20%

  • Recommend repair work requiring outsourcing.

  • Inspect outsourced work to ensure quality parts and workmanship.

  • Conduct regular visits to dealers/vendors for maintenance oversight.

    Reporting – 20%

  • Maintain files for each vehicle and provide reports when requested.

  • Update vehicle
    records and enter data into ILMS.

  • Monitor warehouse stock of parts for timely servicing.

    Qualifications & Evaluations

    Education

  • Completion of secondary school (Required).

  • Minimum 3 years Automotive Technical Training or apprenticeship, with Automotive Technician Craft 3 certificate or equivalent (Required).

    Experience

  • Minimum 5 years continuous hands‑on experience as a vehicle mechanic in a recognized institution (Required).

    Evaluations

  • Candidates may be asked to complete pre‑employment language or skills tests.

  • Applications must address all qualifications and requirements.

  • Security certificate or Public Trust clearance required.
