Duties

Position Duties Include

  • Unclassified mail handling, reproduction services responsibilities, clerical duties, incoming and outgoing pouch responsibilities, customer service; must be trained and familiar with Integrated Learning Management Systems (ILMS) and its various modules (Mail and Messenger Service.

  • Transportation Lite, Diplomatic Pouch and Mail); drives an Embassy vehicle to pick up and deliver Diplomatic Mail and pouch items. Reports directly to Mail room Supervisor.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements

    Experience

  • Minimum of one year administrative work experience in an office setting or customer service oriented environment is required.

    Education Requirements

    Education

  • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) is required.

    Evaluations

  • Post may choose to add the phrase “This may be tested” after a language, skill, and/or ability. Review the VA template for specific information.

    Language

  • English level III (Good working knowledge) Written/Speaking/Reading is required. (This will be tested).

    Skills and Abilities

  • Must have a valid Code 8 South African driver's license.

  • Good public relations skills are necessary for dealing with vendors, contractors,
    and embassy staff.

  • Basic familiarity with MS Office Suite is required.

  • Must have basic numeracy skills.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds (23 kg).

  • Familiarity with MS Word and Excel is required. (This will be tested).

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in South Africa may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
