Duties

Assigned to the General Services Office (GSO), primarily Motor pool, the position performs basic car cleaning tasks in support of GSO Motor pool and laborer duties at the Chancery or GSO Annex. Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433.

Vehicle Upkeep Duties:

  • Performs janitorial duties to include but not limited to: washing, drying, and waxing vehicle exteriors and tires, vacuuming vehicle carpets and seats, cleaning vehicle windows (inside and out), dusting and polishing vehicle dashboards, emptying trash, and refills emergency vehicle water.

  • Reports equipment problems to supervisor. Cleans mechanic workshop along with auto mechanics to ensure a tidy and organized workspace free of fall hazards.

    Laborer Duties:

  • Moves, loads, unloads, carries and places equipment, tools, and materials. Performs the following manual duties as required: assist auto mechanics in passing tools and parts, holding ladders, moving supplies to/from work sites, moving vehicles around the parking lot as needed for cleaning access.

  • Uses hand trucks, pallet jacks, brooms and simple hand tools required for support of vehicle maintenance and cleaning.

  • Take care and responsibility of items found in the car to return to rightful owners.

    Miscellanous Duties:

  • Escorts visitors, outside contractors and non-cleared employees at post when required. Operates Government-owned motor vehicles as incidental driver.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Experience:

  • Two years of vehicle maintenance, driving duties or general cleaning work experience is required.

    Education Requirements:

  • Completion
    of elementary school is required.

    Language:

  • English Level 2 - Limited knowledge; written & spoken. This may be tested

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to physically able perform arduous tasks as well as work independently.

  • Must be able to use hand tools, cleaning tools and operate motorized equipment and vehicles.

  • Must be able to perform basic tasks, manual duties, and proper handling of equipment and materials.

  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as eyewear, and safety shoes.

  • Must be able to perform assign tasks in all types of weather, and environmental weather conditions to include at times severe cold, extreme heat, wet or dry weather conditions, and high winds.

  • Must have a valid and current Class B driver's license. Must have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years.
