Duties

  • Under supervision of Housing Assistant, the incumbent serves as the Housing subject matter expert and advisor on repairs and maintenance issues in all government-provided housing. Serves as the interlocutor with landlords, contractors, embassy technicians, and tenants to make sure that work is completed on time and in accordance with embassy residential standards.

    (80%) Residential Maintenance and Repairs Oversight

  • Manages tenants' requests for maintenance and repairs at leased properties. Acts as liaison between tenants, landlords, and embassy sections to resolve a variety build trades related issues. Serves as the building trades subject matter expert within the GSO Housing team.

  • Provides regular status updates to tenants and provides onsite checks to confirm work is completed per the occupants request. Liaises with the landlords on all maintenance and repairs tasks with a focus on making sure that the process is seamless to the tenant.

  • Works with contractors and landlords to ensure work performed by them meets embassy standards.

    (10%) Security Escort

  • Coordinates escorts for landlords and contractors.

  • Enters access requests in myServices and follows up with all parties (GSO and RSO) until full approval is granted. Serves as a back-up escort as needed.

    (10%) Documentation and Reporting

  • Performs general clerical, administrative, and procurement functions in support of the
    Housing unit.

  • Provides recommendations to landlords when it comes to where to source residential parts and materials from locally. Assists with drafting correspondence to landlords, tenants, or management.

  • Resolves myServices requests in the system. May be required to perform data entries into the the embassy's housing system RPA.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of three years relevant work experience in building or construction is required with focus on coordination, monitoring, and quality control and inspection is required.

    Education Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of Secondary School (Form VI) is required. One year vocational Training in Building or Construction is required.

    Evaluations:

  • Language: Good working knowledge (reading, speaking, and writing) in English is required and Good working knowledge (reading, speaking, and writing) in Kiswahili is required. "This may be tested"

  • Skills and Abilities: Valid driving License (B & D) is required.
