Duties

Working under the direct supervision of the Deputy Shipping and Customs supervisor, the shipping clerk coordinates GSO Shipping and Custom’s paperwork addressed to government administrative offices and updates various databases daily. Collects funding/fiscal data for Government-Owned Vehicles. Manages payment for vehicle registrations, ordering vehicle tags and roadworthy certificates and annual licenses renewals.

Applies for Letters of Authority for imported vehicles. Assists and completes the filing process with VAT refund claims for departing diplomats. Provides office support to the section.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience:

Minimum of two years of work experience in administrative related field is required.

Education Requirements:

Successful completion of secondary school (grade 12) is required.

Evaluations:

Language:

Level 4 Speaking/Reading/Writing English. (This may be tested).

Level 3 Speaking/Reading/Writing in one of the other official South African languages to aid with vendors and other government organizations.

Skills and Abilities:

Accurate typing speed (40 wpm), excellent computer skills on Microsoft Word, Access and Excel for data base capturing and management, ability to prioritize workload effectively with minimal supervision, excellent interpersonal skills.

Must possess a valid Code EB driver’s license.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required. (This may be tested).
