U.S. Embassy in Ghana Motor Vehicle Service Technician (Vehicle Diagnostic) Jobs

Duties

The Vehicle Electrician / Diagnostic Technician position is located at the vehicle maintenance section of the U.S. Mission. The incumbent fixes, inspects and maintains cars, trucks, SUVs for the mission.

Position also uses tools to find any potential issues with Government Owned Vehicles (GOV), explains problems with the car to the driver and performs maintenance on the car to fix it or prevent it from future breakdowns or issues. This is a non-supervisory position, and it is supervised by the Motorpool Supervisor - FSN-09.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

Experience:

Four years prior work experience in a large garage or similar environment is required

Job Knowledge:

A good working knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and troubleshooting practice, local market cost for parts and supplies, Use of all tools of the trade including Automotive Diagnostic Scan.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required

Evaluations:

Language: Good working knowledge in written and spoken English is required. (Language proficiency will be tested).

Skills and Abilities:

Must know how to use computer such as Microsoft Office Word and spreadsheet software as well as automotive

maintenance and repairs. And must possess a valid driver's license Class C for a minimum of 5 years, be able to lift a maximum lifting weight of 30 lbs. and read blueprint and interpret manufacturer's instruction. (Computing and driving skills may be tested).
