Duties

  • Incumbent serves as the FSN LAN Computer Management Assistant for the American Embassy and reports directly to the Supervisory Information Management Specialist.

  • He\She has the following responsibility on OpenNet and DIN Network: install, configure and troubleshoots, including but not limited to, desktops, peripherals, laptops, printers, scanners, servers, standalones etc.; installs and maintains desktop and server security updates and patches; install, configure, and update client/server applications on workstations and servers and manages security profiles for application; develop and update image library and conduct hardware and software interoperability testing; install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as switch, router and encryption devices, access points, wireless networks; create, transfer and manage OpenNet user account; manage mobile communication devices; responsible for providing technical support to end users permitting them to utilize hardware more effectively, software.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    Experience:

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in the operation or utilization of computer systems, including installation, configuration, and programming network devices and applications (If necessary), as well as all aspects of system analysis and design.

  • One additional year of experience in Information Technology functions, database programming, webpage design and programming, or experience in mobile communication equipment, wireless networking and VoIP will be required.

    Education:

  • A BA/B.Sc. degree in Computer Sciences, Information Science, Business Information Management, Information and Communication Technology, or Business Administration Information
    System is required.

    Evaluations:

  • Language: English 4 (Fluency) Speaking/ Reading/writing and Amharic 4 (Fluency) Speaking/ Reading/writing is required. (These may be tested)

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Good interpersonal skills are required to resolve priority issues, system limitations, downtime, etc., with officials.

  • Skill in computer systems to obtain support for actions that will enhance automation and/or effective management of computer resources.

  • Excellent technical skills to troubleshoot software problems and to maximize the capabilities of the post computer resources.

  • Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain user-friendly, positive support and encourage maximum automation of post systems. (These may be tested).
