Summary:

The work schedule for this position is:

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)

  • Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (12 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

    Duties

  • The incumbent serves within the Information Resource Management (IRM) section and reports directly to the FS-02 IPO, and then the FE-OC IMO. The incumbent provides technical support for all DoS networks, to include OpenNet, ClassNet and DIN.
  • The incumbent supervises the Communications and Audio/Visual Programs (CAP) office and its three technicians, as well as the four-person switchboard office.
  • Performs strategic planning, ensures compliance, integrity, and security of all data and networks, and ensures that the team is operating against consistent standards and approved procedures.
  • Coordinates and directs local IT staff in applying the configuration and security standards required for the implementation and running of the networks.
  • Assists with budget planning, system and project planning and evaluating for the CAP and switchboard portfolios. Due to work location and duties, the incumbent requires a Top Secret and crypto clearance.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the ISO, IPO or IMO. On-call, after-hours and weekend work is required.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    Experience:

  • Five years’ experience in the IT Field, specifically in IT Administration, software deployment, or network engineering. Must have at least one year experience supervising in the IT field.

    Education Requirements:

  • Mandatory: Two years college studies is required.

    Language:

  • English Level IV (Reading, Writing, Speaking) - This may be tested.

    Agency Benefits:

    The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

    Important:

    A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant.

    The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.

    This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
