URC Anemia Implementation Science Initiative (ISI) Project Coordinator Jobs in Uganda
Under the supervision of the PI, assure the coordination of all aspects of the iron folic acid supplementation ISI project and the implementation of the implementation research studies.
Responsibilities
Support implementation research activities at the health facility level – organizing and providing technical assistance for quality improvement focused on IFAS, working closely with the RHITES-EC Nutrition team and district counterparts.
Liaise with the researchers to provide necessary support to the implementation research studies
Monitor ISI activities against the contract deliverable schedule to ensure timely implementation of activities
Facilitate and manage engagement of the ISI “core team” members – as defined in the project scope document. Organize subsequent core team meetings as required, and end-of-project dissemination event.
Together with HQ, develop systems for on-going documentation of the key project deliverable, including the bottleneck analysis and other ‘key action trackers.
Regularly update the bottleneck inventory and facilitate core team discussions of the bottlenecks.
Organize knowledge brokering activities, working closely with supervisor, HQ and SISN teams.
Communicate regularly with supervisor, SISN (for technical support) and HQ
Prepare activity requests and routine activity reports as required
Represent URC at the national level and provide regular updates to the micronutrient thematic working group and the nutrition technical working groups on the progress of the ISI work
Cultivate interest in implementation science/implementation research among nutrition stakeholders at various levels (health facility, district and national level).
Working closely with SISN and HQ liaison person, establish an implementation science network platform to
facilitate sharing and learning of ISI at various levels.
Provide weekly summary progress reports to supervisor copied to RHITES-EC Nutrition TA, HQ project liaison personnel and RHITES-EC COP.
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Good understanding and working relationships with key stakeholders (MOH, other nutrition stakeholders)
A degree in nutrition from a recognized institution. A post-graduate qualification is of added advantage
At least 5 (five) years’ experience in health/nutrition program management/implementation
Demonstrated understanding of nutrition and public health policies, standards and guidelines
Thorough knowledge of nutrition challenges and opportunities for improving nutrition programing in Uganda
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage successful implementation of activities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and conceptual skills
Experience working in the Nutrition program implementation arena in Uganda
Working experience in East Central region is of added advantage
Familiarity with the focal anemia control program
Experience working with district health systems
