University Research District Program Officer Jobs in Uganda

Job Purpose

The District Program officer will be the project's liaison person in one of the 12 supported districts within the East central region and S/he will be embedded within the District Health Management Team (DHMT), through the DHO's office. .

Roles and Responsibilities

To work as a liaison person between the project and the district to ensure project activities are well planned, coordinated and implemented in harmony with the district priorities operations to achieve the intended objectives

• Participate in making work plans, drawing activity schedules, raising activity requests, implementing activities and writing relevant reports.

• Always seek to understand and work with the district and project relevant staff to lay strategies to achieve prevailing project priorities by the time.

• Lead, guide and mentor the project team seconded to the district for proper and harmonized implementation of the planned activities with the district teams

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medicine (MBChB). A Master's degree in a health-related field is an added advantage.

• 2 years professional experience working in Public Health Systems.

• Experience with USAID and/or other donor projects is an added advantage

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Experience with USAID, PEPFAR and or other donor projects.

• Experience collaborating

and developing partnerships with Ministries of Health/National Programs, District Local Governments, donors, NGOs, and/or other stakeholders on HIV/TB and/ or RMNCH initiatives in alignment with national strategic plans.

• Experience in managing quality improvement interventions and technical/institutional capacity building programs.

• Experience working within Uganda is strongly preferred.
