Requirements for Appointment.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -
  • Qualified as a medical doctor with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MBBS) degree from a recognized University.
  • Be registered by the Kenya Medical and Dentists, Practitioners Board;
  • Have a valid practising license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
  • At least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Medical practitioner;
  • Evidence of continuous professional development;
  • Senior Management Course training lasting not less than four (4) weeks.
  • Be ICT Competent.


    Job Description:
    Job Purpose
  • Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance), the Medical Officer shall overall be responsible for the supervision and management of all administrative and operational functions of the University Health Services Department.


    Duties and Responsibilities as a Medical Officer amongst others will be:
  • Ensure that the proper Management of the University Medical Centre is following its vision, mission, plans and policies set by the Board.
  • Prudent and economical resource management for the University Health department, through Smooth running of the clinical services, organizing, planning and controlling resources available.
  • Participating in planning and development committees;
  • Staff development and capacity building;
  • Providing specialized services in various disciplines;
  • Managing medical stores, plant and equipment in use in relevant specializations and any other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor from time to time.
