Brief Description of WFP in Uganda

  • WFP delivers food assistance in emergencies and work with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

  • WFP provides life-saving food assistance and livelihood opportunities to refugees in Uganda. In addition, WFP assists the most vulnerable people in Karamoja with food and nutrition assistance.

  • Finally, WFP works with smallholder farmers and links them to markets.

  • As Uganda strives to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and become a middle-income country by 2040, WFP is also assessing its relevance and repositioning its role in Uganda.

    Standard Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or any related field.

  • Experience with the application of client services to resolve or escalate end-user problems

  • Five (5) years’ experience working with corporate systems and troubleshooting.

  • Previous knowledge of SCOPE is an asset.

  • Proficiency in oral and written English language

  • Knowledge and experience of the area context,

  • Knowledge of one of Karamoja Local Languages is a MUST.

    Organisational Context

  • These jobs are found in Country Offices (COs), Regional Bureaux (RBs), and Headquarters (HQ). The Job holders report to a Head of the Unit, Chief or IT Solutions Developer.

  • At this level job holders are expected to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to queries with only general guidance. There is a requirement to use judgment in dealing with unforeseen problems on a daily basis.

    Job Purpose

  • To provide IT Associate to provide technical support on the development, maintenance, testing and implementation of a portion of IT solutions for KSR/CODA in line with business requirements

    Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

  • Keep up-to-date technical systems documentation for developed IT solutions in order to support systems maintenance.

  • Perform unit and integrated testing of new, enhanced or fixed code in order to ensure completeness and adherence to technical specifications.

  • Assist in the installation, configuration and customization of IT systems ensuring compliance with WFP’s IT standards, guidelines and procedures.

  • Communicate any new guidance for corporate systems with the ICT in the FOs.

  • Assist in the release of IT systems and provide early life support in order to prepare for and enable proper use of the IT solution.

  • Resolve users queries independently, escalating if required, to ensure that standard IT questions are answered and accurate information is provided.

  • Assist in the preparation of materials and the delivery of trainings on automated business processes to ensure efficient and effective use of IT systems.

  • Collect and collate data, conduct basic analysis to support the development of accurate reports using Tablue and Microsoft systems.

  • Maintain an accurate KSR assets & equipment (Inventory) in accordance with WFP standard operational procedures and regulations.

  • Develop SOPs and guidelines related to ICT processes as needed.
