Org. Setting and Reporting

  • These positions are in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), locations: Juba. The Supply Assistants will report to the Warehouse Supervisor or his/her designated official.

    Responsibilities

  • Within the delegated authority of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Supply Assistants will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Perform warehouse activities including receiving, inspection, storage, maintenance, and issuing of stocks to the Centralized Warehouse customers and maintaining accurate transaction history for all receipts and issues;

  • Ensure all items received for storage are labeled, properly arranged in the storage shelves/ bins and correctly entered into the database;

  • Update bin locations of inventory and equipment at each warehouse;

  • Update the status of assets as reported through issue vouchers, transfer vouchers, etc;

  • Perform cycle counting program of inventories. Ensure consistency in Umoja against physical inspections and cycle counts;

  • Perform assigned tasks including distribution planning, record keeping, packing of supplies, movement of cargo and delivery of goods.

    Tasks and duties involved any labor work required;

  • Perform 100% physical count of non-expendable and expendable stocks in accordance with Mission’ policy;

  • Perform warehouse housekeeping on a continuous basis;

  • Perform and keep database on tracking of containers;

  • Operate MHE (i.e. forklift) to move pallets and containers;

  • Identify inventory to be written-off and coordinates Property Disposal for movement of written-off items, based on usage patterns and ABC analysis;

  • Support implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and environmental policies in all warehouse operations;

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.

    Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

    Work Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain, warehouse operations or combined experience on property control, assets management, property disposal, supply and logistics is required.

  • Proven computer skills and training in software applications such as Word and Excel and Knowledge of Umoja/SAP database is desirable

  • Having a valid driving license is required.

  • Experience in operating fork-lift is desirable.

    Languages

  • English is the working language of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in oral and written English is required.
