United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Consultant - Senior Partnership Development and Coordination Specialist Jobs in Nigeria



Under the supervision of the Country Representative in CONIG and in close coordination with the Head of the substantive units in in CONIG as well as in consultations with relevant UNODC sections in Vienna, the incumbent will perform the following substantive duties and responsibilities:

  • Create an overview of UNODC CONIG’s pending concept notes and project proposals submitted to international partners for funding and update the overview regularly in close consultations with CONIG Heads of Units;

  • Lead the development and implement a cross cutting partner outreach plan and coordinate with CONIG management its regular updating;

  • Lead the organisation of a high-level EUROJUST mission to Abuja on Transnational Organized Crime affecting West Africa and Europe in close coordination with EUROJUST, the European Union Delegation in Abuja, the EU Member States maintaining a diplomatic representation in Abuja, the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Justice and relevant Nigerian judicial and law enforcement agencies;

  • Conceptualize and coordinate the preparations in close coordination with the European Union Delegation in Abuja and select EU Member States embassies a high level visit to the Niger Delta to inspect the impact of the community based crime prevention project implemented by UNODC;

  • Lead the development of private sector partnership initiatives and conduct meetings with relevant businesses executives of Nigerian and foreign companies

  • In close coordination and consultations with the EU delegation in Abuja, coordinate and guide the drafting of EU action fiches in the mandate areas of UNODC, with a specific focus on crime and drug prevention and countering transnational organised crime and terrorism.

    Qualifications/special skills

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international public law, criminology, social science, criminal law, human rights, or a related field is required.

  • A first-level university degree in similar fields
    in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional work experience in international development cooperation is required.

  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of EU and other international development partners strategies and priorities in Nigeria in the areas relevant to UNODCs mandate areas is required;

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills as well as the ability to operate effectively across organisational boundaries and to maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural background with respect for diversity required;

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Secretariat language is an advantage.
