United Nations Office at Nairobi Medical Officer Jobs in Kenya; The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary-General.
UNON supports UNEP, UN-Habitat, and other UN offices in Kenya by providing administrative, conference, and information services.
This position is located in UNON’s Joint Medical Service at Kakuma duty station, under the direct supervision of the Officer in Charge.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties:
Running the JMS fever clinic for COVID-19 management
Performing day-to-day clinical duties, including attending to walk-in patients
Handling medical evacuations and emergencies
Conducting pre-placement and periodic medical examinations
Administering immunizations and providing travel health advice
Referring staff to outside specialists and following up as necessary
Providing health education and medical counseling to clients
Addressing work environment and occupational health issues
Responding to emergencies on a 24/7 basis, including house calls and hospital rounds
Medico-Administrative Duties:
Liaising with other dispensaries and host-nation medical facilities
Following UN policies and procedures for medical clearances, sick leave, and evacuations
Recommending and processing medical evacuations in line with UN rules
Ensuring proper follow-up on all cases
Applying administrative manuals for clinic operations
Supervising and distributing work for nurses and other staff assigned to the fever clinic
Establishing good relations with hospitals, private medical facilities, and blood banks
Administrative Duties:
Ensuring training programs on COVID-19 prevention, isolation, quarantine, and hospital
transfer are implemented
Undertaking medical clearances according to UN guidelines
Providing outpatient treatment and immunizations
Preparing regular reports on clinic activities, local medical facilities, and statistical data
Performing other related duties as required
Qualifications / Special Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (MBChB) required
Experience:
Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible experience in the medical field required

Teamwork: Works collaboratively, values others’ input, supports group decisions, shares credit for team accomplishments
Certification:
Up-to-date Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificate required
Languages
Fluency in English and Kiswahili required
