United Nations Office at Nairobi Information Systems Officer Jobs; This position is located in the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Division of Administrative Services (DAS), Information and Communication Technology Service (ICTS), Conference and Client Support Section (CCSS). The incumbent will report to the Chief of Conference and Client Support Section. The Information Systems Officer will provide operational leadership and oversee the planning, management, and delivery of technical conference and meeting services to UNON clients, including Governments, UN entities and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership on conference technology (CMSI, RSI, AV distribution/control, broadcasting, webstreaming, recording, MAMS, video conferencing, digital signage, captioning)

  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to conference support teams; mentor junior staff and manage rosters of temporary staff

  • Work with Division of Conference Support (DCS) to plan and organize meetings, ensuring ICTS and technology requirements are met with accurate billing and cost recovery

  • Develop cost proposals, prepare procurement plans, oversee technical evaluation of proposals, and manage contractual services related to conference technology

  • Gather and monitor AV/ICT requirements for meetings; measure progress against plans and quality standards; gather customer feedback and drive improvements

  • Propose new policies, standards, and procedures; optimize current ones for comprehensive conference technology support

  • Plan and execute phased upgrades of outdated AV/IT equipment; collaborate on design and implementation of conference upgrade projects

  • Develop and monitor information standards and guidelines; prepare technical/user documentation and training materials

  • Ensure business continuity of conference operations through SLAs and ERM; provide disaster recovery training and simulations; produce KPI reports

  • Drive digital transformation in conference management by adopting emerging technologies (AI-powered tools, best-of-breed solutions)

  • Collect and analyze data to detect trends/patterns; present insights using data visualization methods for planning and reporting

  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Chief of Section

    Education

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics, business management, or related field required

  • First-level degree with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted

  • Completion of degree/non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science desirable

    Job-Specific Qualification

  • Supplemental certifications in ICT & Project Management (ITIL, Prince2, PMP) required

  • Supplemental certifications in AV fields (CTS, Dante, Shure/DIS, Bosch, Taiden, Televic, Q-Sys, Crestron, SMPTE ST-2110, etc.) desirable

    Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in planning, design, development, operation, and maintenance of large-scale (>1,000 delegate positions) CMSI systems required

  • At least 2 years of experience managing a team of ICTS technicians or service desk required

  • Experience with RSI platforms and digital signage desirable

  • AV experience in an international organization desirable

  • At least 2 years of experience in data analytics desirable

  • At least 2 years of experience managing AV Over IP infrastructure desirable
