United Nations Office at Nairobi Information Systems Assistant Jobs in Kenya;The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the representative office of the Secretary‑General in Kenya.
UNON supports UNEP, UN‑Habitat, the Resident Coordination System (RCS), and other UN offices in Kenya by providing administrative, security, conference and ICT services.
This post is located in the Infrastructure Management Section (IMS) within the Information and Communications Technology Service (ICTS), Division of Administrative Services (DAS).
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Monitoring & Event Detection
Perform continuous real‑time monitoring of ICT infrastructure.
Monitor networks, systems, data centers, connectivity and environmental systems.
Identify anomalies and initiate response actions.
Incident Response & Escalation
Detect, log, classify and prioritize incidents.
Perform diagnostics, fault isolation and first‑line resolution.
Escalate incidents to technical teams or vendors.
Track incidents through resolution and support major incident response.
Operational & Service Support
Provide first‑line support for ICT services.
Perform service desk functions outside normal hours.
Monitor enterprise ICT environments including wireless and remote access.
Report abnormal security events and support ICT operations during major events.
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Maintain incident logs, monitoring outputs and handover reports.
Update SOPs, runbooks and knowledge base materials.
Produce reports on service availability and operational performance.
Identify recurring issues and escalate for improvement.
Participate in reviews, drills and support new systems or technologies.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Formal technical training in ICT, networking, systems or data center operations desirable.
Job‑Specific Qualification
ITIL Foundation certification required.
Networking certification (CCNA or equivalent) required.
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years’ progressively responsible experience in ICT operations, NOC, service desk or data center.
Minimum years reduced by 2 for candidates with a first‑level university degree.
Experience in monitoring, incident management and operational support required.
Experience in ITIL‑based environments desirable.
Experience in 24x7 operational environments desirable.
Knowledge of ICT infrastructure environments desirable.
Familiarity with monitoring or operational support tools desirable.
Basic knowledge of scripting, automation or system administration desirable.
1+ year experience in data analytics desirable.
Languages
English required.
French desirable.
