United Nations Office at Nairobi Human Resource Intern Jobs in Kenya
The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON); is the UN headquarters in Africa. UNON supports UNEP, UN‑Habitat, the Resident Coordination System (RCS), and other UN offices in Kenya by providing administrative, security, conference, and information services.
These positions are located in UNON, Human Resources Management Service (HRMS), Talent Acquisition Unit (TAU). Interns report to cluster team leads.
About the Role
The internship is UNPAID and full‑time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under staff supervision. Daily responsibilities depend on background, assigned office, and internship period.
Key Responsibilities
Generate, digitize, and maintain documentation for staff and non‑staff recruitment.
Collect data from databases and spreadsheets; ensure accuracy.
Clean and transform raw data for analysis.
Create clear data visualizations (charts, graphs).
Support activities including memos, contracts, and official documents.
Review non‑staff files and records for retention or destruction.
Work with Records Management Team to ensure compliance.
Create detailed reports summarizing review processes.
Cross‑reference files with retention policies and legal requirements.
Suggest improvements to filing and records review processes.
Prepare report or presentation on findings and recommendations.
Document workflows and propose efficiency enhancements.
Collaborate on design and improvement of archives and records keeping.
Contribute to indexing, storage, retention, and disposal of records.
Perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications & Special Skills
Applicants must meet one
of the following:
Enrolled in graduate school programme (second degree or higher).
Enrolled in final academic year of first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
Graduated with Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or equivalent.
Additional Requirements
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite.
Keen interest in UN work and commitment to Charter ideals.
Ability to interact with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Areas of Study
Computer Sciences.
Human Resources.
Business Administration.
Languages
Fluency in oral and written English required.
Knowledge of another official UN language desirable.
