United Nations Office at Nairobi Human Resource Assistant Intern Jobs




Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chief, Talent Development Unit and delegated HR Assistant, the intern will:

  • Provide support to the global internship management process.

  • Maintain files, materials, information, schedules, and related data.

  • Support induction and check‑out briefing for UNON, UNEP, and UN‑Habitat interns.

  • Assist in job opening process, evaluation, and screening of applicants.

  • Coordinate onboarding and induction of new interns, including shortlisting, scheduling interviews, and sending acceptance letters.

  • Manage email correspondence, prepare contract extension and renewal documents.

  • Coordinate exit process of interns.

  • Research and prepare statistical and qualitative reports, studies, and correspondence.

  • Assist in processing HR data analytics and presenting reports using visualization techniques.

  • Support research and development of statistical data models for analysis.

  • Assist in coordination of mandatory learning of staff.

  • Assist in training and certification process of staff members.

  • Participate in meetings and perform other tasks as required.

    Qualifications/Special Skills

    Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).

  • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent).

  • Graduated with Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or
    equivalent.

    Additional requirements:

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to the ideals of the Charter.

  • Ability to interact successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

  • Preferred area of study: Human Resources Management, Administration, or related field.

  • Excellent computer and IT skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

    Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat.

  • For this internship, fluency in oral and written English is required.

  • Knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
